 POV - Chimera

I felt a sting, then a wave crash over me. I gasped for air, sitting up. Forget Maxson, where the hell am I? I looked down and saw my chest plate, oh thank the god.

"You lost?" Someone's voice rang through my ears...... I turned around and it was Jody! I glanced over at the water, across the sea was where I had almost died.

"Calm down, soldier. You're good," she said, smiling afterwards.

"How did I-"

"Dragged you in from the sea." Autumn's voice woke me from my daze.

"How?"

"Rachel spotted your body, she and Beka told me. Which then got Dogmeat to go out and fetch you." Autumn chuckled.

I looked to see everyone gathered around me, I blushed, realizing I was only in my boxers and chest plate.
"ALRIGHT EVERYONE, BACK TO WORK. LEAVE THE TWO LOVER BIRDS TO THEMSELVES." Autumn pushed everybody back to their stations.

"I can't even believe you're alive," Jody said, wiping her cheek. She was completely soaked.

"Me too." I chuckled, then rushed up, grabbing her waist. I kissed her.

"God, I love you." I whispered. I didn't want to wake up if this was a dream...... don't wake me.

"Me too," she replied, wrapping her arms around me in an embrace. "And that's not something I get to say very often."

"How long was I out?"

"Awhile. A few days, at least."

"Can we go inside? I'm freezing." I chuckled, then looked back at the castle.

"Definitely. And, let's get you some clothes while we're at it," Jody replied, chuckling. "We can use the curtains."

Staring at the brick walls as we walk toward Jody's room was something I thought I'd only dream about. But I'd finally gotten some clothing and was about to meet her son. I was beyond........... Nervous.

"What if he doesn't like me?" I panicked.

"If he's anything like me, he will," she replied. She then chuckled into her hand. "But, beware. He is my 'mighty protector,' so to speak."

"What'd you do when you found out I was dead?" I chuckled.

"When we went to Goodneighbor. Your, uh, dad told me," she answered.

"God! Where is my old man?" I looked around and Autumn smirked.

"Sent him a letter. He's coming down with a bunch of vets from the brotherhood." Autumn shrugged. She walked past us and towards her room.

"He seemed to be doing alright when I saw him, other than being, well, distraught and all," Jody explained.

"He was sobbing Jody." Autumn chuckled, closing her door.

"Hence, the 'distraught' part," she replied.

"Oh, um, I guess I spooked a few people." I rubbed my neck.

"Nah. There's only a dead man roaming the castle." Jody laughed afterwards.

"You seem jolly......" I muttered, then stared at her. "What really happened?"

"What do you mean?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Don't what do you mean. What really happened when you found out I had died?"

"... Oh... that..." she placed a hand on the back of her neck. "It's... a long story. You got the time?"

"How long?" I asked, leaning on her door.
