Regrets

I never really got to know you.

And I regret that.

I saw you ride your bike to school.

You always had your headphones on,

and I wondered why.

Maybe the music made the demons go away,

or just made them hurt you less.

I've wanted to talk to you,

but I never got the chance to.

I regret that.

Now you're gone,

and I don't know what to do.

I'm sorry for your hurt,

your pain,

and your sorrow.

I wish I could take them all for you.

Even just for one day.

In loving memory of Liam Samuel Kennedy.
