 [1]

HERE SHE GOES AGAIN. Aspen is really sick of Beca's calls. Beca, a brash teenager and Aspen's best friend, is begging her to go on a trip to the woods with her parents. Aspen thinks her parents are just the creepiest peopple in a four county radius. Last year, Aspen when camping with Beca's parents, after that she told herself I'm never going to do that ever, for as long as i live.

Beca calls Aspen again. She assume that Beca will try to pay her to go on a trip with her parents.

Beca: Please. I'm begging you. I'll pay you.

She's really desperate that she'll do anything for Aspen as long as she come. Aspen felt sorry for her best friend, she'll have a boring weekend.

Aspen: I can't. I told you, i have plans.

Aspen kept lying to Beca to save her weekend.

Beca: You're lying. You're a lying bitch and i hate you so much right now.

Aspen: I'm not lying. I promise I'm not. I really would love to go on a trip with your family this weekend. I had fun last year.

Last year, Aspen went camping in the woods with Beca's parents. Aspen is uncomfortable and Beca is bored sitting around the camp fire. Beca's parents stare at the fire with the same creepy smile plastered on their faces. Then there is an excruciatingly long and painful silence, which will break Aspen.

Aspen kept lying. Beca is getting increasingly angrier at her best friend.

Beca: Why don't you just say it? You don't like my parents. You think they're hopelessly pathetic and devoid of souls and wish that you could live with normal people who didn't meet at a Star Trek convention!!

She quickly catches her faux pas and stops talking. Aspen is sympathetic to her best friend.

Aspen: Beca, i like your parents. They're sweet. But i can't go on a trip this weekend.

Beca: Quick. Hurry and make up a lie. I'm waiting.

Aspen: I have a date.

A total lie.

Beca: Liar.

Aspen: No. I do.

Beca: With who?

Aspen: You don't know him.

Beca: And neither do you you selfish bitch!

Aspen: I'm serious. He goes to community college with my cousin in Quezon city.

Beca: What's his name then?

Aspen: Who? My brother?

Beca: Stop stalling. You're totally trying to come up with a name. Just say it.

Aspen is not proud of this. Less about the lie and more about the unoriginality about it. See, there is a book called Buti pa ang Roma may bagong papa, in english translation: Good for Rome with new pope. In filipino, Papa means guy, In one part of the book, they have a family reunion and the author's relatives often asking her when she'll have a boyfriend so she made up a boyfriend to escape the torture. The name of her made up boyfriend was—
