'' Harry, admit it. We are utterly and hopelessly lost. '' I told my brother for the tenth time, leaning against one of the train station's walls. Hagrid had picked us up this morning, and explained to us that we had to take the train on platform 9 and three quarters before he left in a hurry. We spend the last hour seeking the platform, but in vain. We found nine, we found the ten. But there was nothing but pillars inbetween. '' But Hagrid was right. Nine and three quarters. It even says so on the ticket. '' Harry pressed on, trying to convince me that we should ask someone who works here. I shook my head as I stepped away from the wall and rest my hands on my trolley, flicking my hand against the cage that I had covered with a blanket, to hush Mirthal's noisy whines. '' I told you, I doubt non-magical people will understand. They'll mock us. '' I said in exasperation, rolling my eyes as my brother gained the dreamy gaze after I spoke. There must be other people who are goint to take the Train to Hogwarts. I doubt the school will be completely empty aside from us. Clinging to this thought, I let my curious green eyes soar over the busy and chattery people. '' It's the same every year. Packed with Muggles! Come boys, hurry hurry. '' I heard a kind lady's voice usher forth a lot of red-headed boys and a girl. I nodded in satisfaction and pushed my trolley forth, nudging my brother to follow me. Harry followed my gaze as he took his trolley, eyeing the redheads warily as we both went over. '' E-excuse me? '' Harry started softly as he looked up at the ginger lady, mustering up a nervous smile. '' Do you perhaps know how we..uh.. how- '' he trailled off and pointed his chin at two identical looking boys. Twins, I thought in amusement.

They smirked misschievously before they took off and ran straight for the pillar between platforms nine and ten. Instead of hitting it like I thought and feared they would, they disappeared right in it. I gasped audibly, tilting my head to the side once more in confusion. '' Oh, is it your first time, loves? It's Ron's first time too. '' The lady coo'd, resting her hand on the shoulder of a small ginger boy who smiled awkwardly at us. '' It's really quite simple. You just go straight for the pillar, dearies. Best do it at a bit of a run if you're scared. '' Harry and I nodded as he thanked the lady. I rolled my trolley to be in one line with the pillar and took a deep breath, flashing Harry a nervous smile before I took off in a sprint. Right before I would hit the pillar, I closed my eyes and held my breath as I anticipated the hit. But as it never came, I pried my eyes open and froze on the spot. A big sign read 'Platform nine and three quarters.' Infront of me stood an old, marvelous steam train, packed with witches and wizards running about and saying their goodbyes to their families. '' Woah. '' I heard Harry awe beside me, as I turned my head some to smile at him. This was all so amazing! He flashed me a grin before we pushed our trolley's towards the train. A kind man lifted our trunks in the compartments as I took Mirthal from his cage. He let out a whine as he finally saw me, immidiately taking his place on my shoulders and neck with his tail curled around my throat. I giggled, my index-finger scratching below my beloved pet's chin. '' They're not supposed to be out of the cages if they are a cat or owl. '' Harry reminded me, sending his white owl Hedwig, an apologetic look as he was placed with the trunks. '' Yes, but Mirthal is neither. '' I mused happily, grinning in victory as my brother rolled his eyes and took my hand, boarding the train together. We found an empty compartment and sat down next to each other. Mirthal moved himself to my lap and curled up, allowing me to rest my head on my brother's shoulder. After a few minutes of a comfortable silence, the compartment doors shoved open and in peeked the head of the ginger boy from earlier. '' May I sit here? Everywhere else is full. '' He mumbled awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. It was adorable, in a way. I smiled warmly and nodded, right as Harry pointed to the free seat infront of us. '' Sure thing, come in. We don't mind. '' My brother was such a sweetheart at times, it makes me wonder how we are twins when I'm the more agressive and protective one. '' Thanks. '' The boy smiled in relief and sat down infront of us, reaching a hand out to my brother. '' I'm Ronald Weasley, but please call me Ron. '' he said as they shook hands. '' Harry Potter. And this is my twin sister, Mary Potter. '' He let go of Ron's hand to gesture to me, to which I offered up a friendly smile. '' Woah, the Potter Twins! You are famous. Do you really have the..the- '' Ron pointed at his own forehead as his eyes stared intently at Harry. '' The what? '' My brother asked in confusion. I snorted. He was a sweetheart, but he could be so ignorant sometimes. '' The scar. '' Ron whispered, as if it was something that would disappear if he said it too loudly. '' Oh, yeah. '' Harry mused, pushing his dark hair to the side to reveal the little lightning bolt. '' Wicked! '' Ron awe'd as I held in a giggle, shaking my head. Boys. My brother and Ron conversed excitedly as I calmly listened to their conversations, my hand absendmindedly petting Mirthal's asleep little form.

The compartment doors were opened again and I curiously lifted my head to look at the unfamiliar, busy head that peeked in. '' Have any of you seen a toad? A boy named Neville's lost one. '' We all shook our heads as she let out an agitated sigh. Troublesome toad, appearently. My green eyes went back to Scabbers, Ron's rat, which was about to be turned yellow before the girl interrupted. Or rather, he said he could get it to become yellow. The girl followed my gaze and arched a brow. '' Oh you were about to do magic? Let's see then. '' She chirped, crossing her arms. Ron coughed nervously, before staring intently at the rat. '' "Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid, fat rat yellow." He exclaimed, tapping Scabber's back. He only sprang up as a spark left the wand, but nothing else happened. Ron shrugged awkwardly, clearly ashamed of the failure. '' Well it's not a very good spell, is it? Of course, I only tried a few basic ones myself. For example- '' The girl cut herself off as she walked in, pointing her wand at my brother's glasses. I growled, my eyes flashing a dangerous glint as she posed a threat to my twin. But Harry soothed me, resting a hand on my thigh as the girl continued. '' Oculus Reparo. '' She muttered and flicked her wand, my brother's broken glasses fixing itself up in a miesely second. I immidately relaxed, and managed to flash her a grateful smile. His glasses were in desperate need of a fixing. I better remember that spell. She tucked her wand back in the sleeve of her robes with a satisfied hum. '' That's better. Oh, and my name is Hermione Granger by the way. '' She smiled at me and my brother. '' Harry Potter, and this is my twin sister, Mary. '' Harry introduced us, seeing the flicker of curiousity in her eyes as soon as she knew we were the 'Twins Who Lived.' '' And you are? .. '' She asked reluctantly, turning around to Ron who had his mouth stuffed with candy. '' Ronald Weasley. '' He mumbled incoherently, earning a disappointed look from the girl. '' ... Pleasure. '' She eventually uttered, turning around. '' Oh I would change in your robes, everyone. I expect we will be arriving soon. And you have some dirt there, did you know that? '' Hermione aimed the last bit at Ron, tapping the side of her nose. '' Just there. '' Before she left the compartment. I covered my mouth with my hands to muffle the sound of my laughter as Ron turned beet red, furiously wiping at his nose as Harry shook his head with a chuckle. It was safe to say that that encounter was a bit awkward. I gently put Mirthal on my seat as we all went to change into our robes, excited to finally see Hogwarts. Harry explained to Ron that I couldn't talk, and he didn't make a point of it. I smiled gratefully at him, glad to have made my first friend already. Our first friend, I thought as I watched the boy's interact playfully as the train skidded to a halt. Hogwarts, here we come.
