A Sleepy Dragneel

So... 

I forgot about this story...

I have no idea how, especially considering Fairy Tail is one of my top 3 favorite anime ever (and I've rewatched multiple times in the past)

*awkward shrug where Noel avoids all eye contact at her computer and looks at the ceiling*

Hopefully someone enjoys this aside from just me?

The door creaked open slowly, letting only a little light from the hallway into the dark bedroom. Natsu Dragneel was instantly on alert, even though his eyes didn't open and he didn't budge from his spot next to his sleeping wife.

He listened intently, only relaxing once he smelled who it was and knowing that his family wasn't being attacked in the middle of the night by someone.

When the little monster jumped on him and shoved an elbow in his ribs he only grunted and peeked open an eye to watch Nashi crawl over him not-gently-at-all and snuggle up to her mother. His daughter snuggled up to Lucy carefully and oh-so-gently as if to make sure she didn't wake or disturb her. (Very much the opposite to how she'd treated him.)

Lucy looked like an angel as she slept, her long blonde hair covering her pillow and her pink lips ever so slightly open as she exhaled tiny little snores every once in a while. She looked peaceful and gorgeous.

Their daughter curled up against her into a ball, with her pink hair sticking in all directions she looked like a pink puff ball nestled against her mother tight.

As if Lucy could sense her child next to her, she turned and nestled into Nashi, wrapping her arms around her and holding her even as she slept deeply. Nashi in turn, always preferring her mother's embrace since she was a baby, smiled happily and whispered a sleepy little ''I wuv u mama.''

It was adorable, and Natsu loved getting to see the two people that meant everything to him curled up together. 

''Another nightmare, Nashi?" he asked in a quiet voice to keep from waking his wife.

The pink fluff ball bobbed it's head as a small yes.

Natsu scooted closer and wrapped his arms around both his girls, ''Don't worry, I'm always here to protect you and so is mama. We'd never let anything happen to you, little dragon.''

Two bright brown eyes, just like Lucy's peeped up at him, ''I wuv u oo daddy. Even oh mama's favorite.''

Natsu raised an eyebrow at his daughter, ''Why can't mama and daddy both be your favorite?"

She stared at him for a moment, pondering the question. ''Cause mama can cook, daddy u burn every-ing bad. Daddy n me would starve without mama.''

He couldn't really argue with that.

''Okay mama can cook better than me, but what about--''

''Natsu, don't pick a fight you can't win-- I carried her in my stomach for months and pushed her out, I win.'' Lucy's tired voice interjected, her eyes still closed as she half-awake chimed in on her husband and daughter's middle-of-the-night debate.

''See? Mama's hardcore daddy! Auntie Cana said that to have me, mama must've had one hell of a--''

''Don't repeat anything Aunt Cana says, sweetie,'' Lucy peeked an eye open to look at Nashi as she said it. Dread creeping over her as she thought of whatever the drunkard must've told her young daughter.

Natsu mumbled about having to talk to the idiot again about child innocence and language. To which Lucy silently agreed.

After that, Lucy fell back asleep quickly.

Natsu kissed the top of Nashi's head and stayed awake until he heard her snores begin too. Unlike Lucy, Nashi snored like an absolute freight-train much like he did (at least that's what Lucy told him).

Natsu grinned to himself as he fell asleep, thankful for the wife in his arms and the child she'd given him that was curled up in between them.

He promised himself he'd get up before Lucy to cook breakfast and prove Nashi wrong first thing in the morning.

.....It didn't go like planned, needless to say.
