2 weeks later*

I took one last look at my house that was slowly shrinking away in the distance as my mom drove me to the airport, off to live with my dad and his 'family'.

I was just dying of excitement(notice my sarcasm). I haven't even met dad's new family yet and I wasn't looking forward to it. They probably won't even like me. Not that it really matters to me if they do or not.

My mom kept talking to me on the way there but I wasn't really listening.

When we arrived at the airport an hour later, I grabbed my suitcases and then mom hugged me for what seemed like forever before she let me go.

"I'm going to miss you so much." she cried

"Then why are you sending me to live with dad?"

"Kalli...we've been over this." She sighed

"Gotta plane to catch." I said, ignoring her, pointing to the plane that already had people aboarding.

She nodded her head and looked down at her feet.

I looked back one last time at her and she waved slyly.

When I walked onto the plane, I gave my ticket to a very petite blonde who looked to be in her early 20s. She flashed me a pearly white smile and showed me where my seat was. I placed my suitcases above my seat and sat in the window side, hoping nobody would sit by me.

The whole plane ride I listened to my music while I stared out my window, admiring the large, white fluffy clouds. I never realized how big they were until now.

That was the last thing I remembered before I fell asleep. I was dreaming of me at a new school, making friends and having a good, perfect life again when suddenly someone was shaking me telling me to wake up.

I opened my eyes and saw a tall, cute boy standing there with a grin on his face.

"Can I help you...?" I said confused

"Hello yourself. Jeesh." he winked

"Who are you?"

"I'm Jake." he said and held his hand out for me to shake but I just stared at it, and then at him until he pulled his hand back

"Yeaahh..." I said slowly "I'm Kalli."

"I was just sitting next to you and the plane has landed so I thought I should wake you up..."

"Oh. Yeah. Thanks." I said before I stood up to get my bags

"Do you need a hand?"

"Nope." I said, popping the P

"Oh...okay then. Bye! Nice meeting you." I heard him say from behind me.

I ignore him as I walked off the plane an into the airport, trying to find my dad.

Searching the airport for nearly 10 minutes, I finally found my dad standing there looking around (probably for me). I walked up to him dragging my suitcases behind me.

"Dad...?"

He turned around with a shocked expression and looked like he might cry. Oh Jesus, not him too.

"Kalli?"

"Uh, yeah."

He walked closer towards me and pulled me in for a hug, but I kept my hands to my side and felt really annoyed and sad at the same time.

"Oh Kalli... I missed you so much. Look at you! You're all grown up." he said while he scanned me up and down

"Yep. How bout' that. Can we go?" I asked, annoyed

"Um, yes. Of course!"

"Greaatt. Will you get my suitcases?"

"Okay, um yeah- no problem." he said as he took them from my hands, noticing that I had 2 free hands

When we got to his car, he put my suitcases in the backseat. I looked back there and saw 3 car seats and if couldn't help but to feel sad, the way you feel when you get so excited to talk to someone but when you finally do, they just brush you off.

When he got in the car, he looked over at me and smiled.

"Those have holes in them." he snickered, pointing to my ripped skinny jeans.

"Oh, do they? Wouldn't have known." I said, then turned my face so I was looking out the window, observing all of the palm trees and sand everywhere.

He started the car and off we were.

"I can't wait till' you meet the kids' and Helen. They're really great." he looked over to me, smiling.

I looked at him with a straight expression on my face, but a hurt feeling in my heart.

"I couldn't care less..." I mumbled

"What's that?" he asked... still smiling.

"Nothing. Can't wait to meet them." I managed to say even though I was dying in the inside.

He seemed happier now than I ever remember him, and that killed me.

When we finally pulled up into a long driveway, I quickly got out of the car and grabbed my suitcases from the back before he could even get out his side.

"Let me give you a hand." He said coming up behind me

"Dad,I can do it myself thanks." I hissed

He ignored my ride remark and kept walking towards the house.

I looked up at the big, white house with black shutters with a beautiful view of the ocean right in front of it.

I stood there, astonished, with my eyes wide.

"Come on." My dad laughed and took my bags that were by my feet for me.

Walking into the house was crazy mad. It was so nice I wondered how they could afford all of the nice luxury things.

I took my converse off and put them to the left where the rest of the shoes were located.

"Okay," Dad said slowly "now let me show you your new room." He smiled and guided me up a long staircase that went in two different directions when you reached the top of the 19 stairs (I counted). We took a left down a long hallway and he stood behind a door frame, giving me room to walk through it.

I set my suitcases down by the door and looked around me, admiring the Tiffany colored walls, the walk in closet, a bathroom of my own, and a bed that was on a loft.

"I'll meet you down stairs, Kall. I can't wait for you to meet Helen and the kids!" He smiled widely and walked over to me, planting a big wet kiss on my forehead. This is going to be great...

I finished unpacking all of my stuff and noticed a glass door that led to outside. I opened it and walked out onto a big, wooden deck wrapped around the outside of my new room. I had a perfect view of the ocean. I sat out there for awhile wishing I was back home in my own house that has the familiar smell of lemon cleaning spray and occasionally some pumpkin candles my mom picks up from the dollar store every now and then. I didn't like new places that I wasn't familiar with. I wanted to be home already.

I sat out on the deck for longer than I expected. I was totally relaxed by the sound of the waves and the smell of the ocean breeze.

I wasn't too long into my deep relaxation mode when I saw a car come down the driveway. I got up from where I was sitting and made my way downstairs, trying not to get lost.

"Kalli," My dad yelled at me when he saw me come down the stairs "This is Helen."
