"You want to find your parents don't you?" Herbut rose his head to look at me, a menacing smile tainted his face. I was shaken by his quick realisation. "Uh...yeah,yeah I do. How did you know?"
"Hm your Jaxon Lynx aren't you?" He asked.
"Yes"
"Son of Elise Dervon and Norman Lyncx?" The whole world seemed to slow down as his words replayed in my head. All of a sudden the private stamps on his documents became more clear and the scientific equipment I could see through the next room seemed a whole lot more menacing. "You knew my parents?!"
"Why yes, I did" Herbut chuckled. If this guy knew my parents, he must know what happened to them. "What happened to them?"
"Oho, I'm not the person you need to be asking?"
"What? Then who?" I pleaded
He sighed and heaved himself up of his sofa, releasinvg a plume of dust. With his slight limp, he walked out of the room. I ammediatley followed his footsteps and continued to pester him on this matter. "Mr. Augermen please! Who is this person I need to see?" I implored. My only response was a short and sharp laugh that rung through the air. "All I need is a location and number, you don't have to give me the name. If I get to the bottom of this, thousands of people will have answers. It won't just be me." Herbut turned around slowly and gave a small sigh.
"Face it child. You're not doing this for me or any Tom,Dick or Harry. You're doing it for you." I gave a sigh of despair lost for ideas. "Listen, I never should have said anything. I was silly thinking he could help you, let alone me. In any case, it's too dangerous for a young boy like you to be going around and asking such treacherous questions. Go home." Then he turned back around and walked on. I realised that I wasn't getting any answers and I might aswell have left the place there and then. But I reminded myself that this was probably my only chance to find something out. I chased after him and pleaded"Mr. Augermen, I'm begging you, please." Once more he turned to face me. He looked at me long and hard. Eventually he rolled his eyes and nodded his head, "Fine."
"Thank you so, so much." Herbut nodded his head again accepting my thanks before setting off again around his house to find something. He led me into the living room again. To my surprise he started rifling through the smaller stacks of documents, of which were all marked secret. "It must be here somewhere." He mumbled, "Aha!" Herbut cried. He cautiously slid out a thin folder from the middle of a rather large stack of brown folders next to the pile he started with. Herbut used his hand to steady the stack as it gave small wobble. He gently pushed his glasses further up his nose before carefully opening the folder. He slid out two small pieces of paper and handed them to me. The first a picture of a man with graying hair and an eccentric smile, the other was a recipt. "What am I gonna do with these?" I asked Herbut. " God knows how he'll help you the crazy bat, but you'll see, you'll see." He told me giving me a pat on the shoulder. He then guided me to the front door and opened it pushing me out into the cold breeze. "Follow your instincts boy, that's the only way your gonna get through this case." He then shut the door in my face without a single word of goodbye.
Well back to square one, I thought as I made my way into StarCups Deluxe. I spied the long line leading up to the counter and decided to sit down and wait for the line to go down. It turns out the info Herbut gave me was useless, either that or it was fake and he was trying to throw me off his scent. Which makes me even more suspicious than I already am. The receit he gave me was for a gun purchased, it had his address. I instantly questioned why Herbut had such a thing in his possession but then again why did he have any of those weird things that house in his possesion. When I got to the address a man around his sixties opened the door, he was way to old to be my Mystery Guy. When I asked him wether he'd seen the guy in the picture he said yes but that he left a few years back. Now I
