Things In Fanfics I Hate

I've seen this a lot in Nico di Angelo fics, and I just hate it.

They give him a straight girlfriend.

I mean,,, what even?! Gay characters don't just become. . .not gay. That's not how it works in real life, and if that's not how it works in the books, it shouldn't be that way. I suppose I get it when they're using a female character who has already been written in the books, if you ship it, but making an OC simply for the purpose of making a gay character straight is just an insult to the character and to their sexuality.

If you're doing a gender-swap, it makes sense, but other than that, it's just insulting to everyone.
