A shrill ring filled my ears and the classroom erupted into shrieks and excited shouts. I let out a breath, finally, summer is here at last. With these thoughts in my mind i gathered up my books and headed out of the classroom. The chemistry teacher waved us a quick goodbye as the classroom slowly emptied. I ran down the hall to meet my best friends, Waverley and Madi. We met in the hall and squeaked out words of excitement. I was not a social girl so the end of year party that was currently being talked about was not being talked about by me or my two friends.
"Oh god! I can't believe that the party is finally here!!" A blonde haired barbie said to her almost identical friend. I looked at them with curiosity, I didn't really know why going out and getting completely drunk and doing who-knows-what with a complete stranger appealed to them so much. They caught me looking at them and said loudly enough
"I am just glad the three weirdos aren't coming, it would totally ruin the night" said the first blonde, I recognised her from class as Melissa. Her friend next to her agreed with a totally that drawled out of her mouth, in such a way, I was scared it had got caught in her throat. They laughed before turning and strutting away, swinging their hips in such a sl*utty way it was painful to watch.
I turned my attention back to my friends who where talking about the first sleep over we where having a week today. My head was telling me to listen but my ears picked up on something else, a little bleep was coming from the front pocket of my backpack. I quickly unzipped it before holding my bleeping phone to my ear.
"Honey? It's mom, where are you? I have been waiting here for ten minutes!" My mothers voice spoke sternly from the other side of the line.
"Okay mom, I will be out in a sec" I hung the phone up before waiting on a reply.
"What was that all about?" Waverley asked me,
"nothing, my mom is being inpatient so I need to head, text you guys tonight!" I replied hugging them both tightly.
"Bye Suiter! See you next Friday!" Waverley piped as I walked away! "Have a good time at your grans Madi!!" I chirped back before I turned a corner and was heading towards the parking lot. A few senior boys where heading towards the car park, a couple of them smiled nicely at me, making me turn a dark shade of red.
"Hey Suiter, do you know where Parker is?" One of the boys asked, i recognised him as Justin, my sisters best friend. "Nope...umm she m-might....umm be in the umm..c-car" I replied blushing harder. Even though I had known Justin since I was in kindergarten I still didn't feel comfortable around him. It didn't help he was surrounded by a group of hot friends. I hurried towards the car. Seeing my mum talking to a girl with soft brown ringlets in the front seat, I knew I had told Justin the truth. As I opened the car I told Parker that Justin was looking for her. She hopped out and my mom and I waited a bit longer before Parker re-appeared.
The ride home was filled with chat about our last day, mom was dropping me off at the house before taking Parker to the airport. She was off to Spain for three weeks with her three best friends and Justin and some of his friends. I hugged my sister a quick goodbye as the car rolled to a stop outside our cream house. I looked back as I walked to the door to see mom already pulling away to get Parker to her flight in time.
I walked into the kitchen and made myself a sandwich as I sat at the table, I heard a key in the lock. A manly voice echoed through the house shouting a hello. I called back to my dad and started to make him lunch. After we had both finished I went up to my room. The lilac walls and white furniture came into view and as my eyes travelled across my room, I saw a suitcase on my bed. With a puzzled look etched across my face I went to open it. It was packed to the brim. I suddenly had a dreadful feeling, Parker had left her luggage. I dashed down stairs nearly tripping over various objects as I made my way to the kitchen.
"Dad! Parker forgot her luggage! It's in my room! She will miss her flight!" The words fell out my mouth without a breath in between.
"Oh no sweety, that's not Parkers!" My dad laughed,
"I am going up for a shower" I looked at him in disbelief, although I hasn't asked him about what the suitcase was I knew he knew what I wanted to know, wow that was a mouthful, before I could ask again, my dad ran up stairs.
Five hours later, mum arrived home with the groceries. We had a quick dinner and watched a film. After twenty minutes into the film I was beginning to fall a sleep. I dragged my feet upstairs and fell onto my bed full clothed. After snuggling into the covers I fell asleep.
A stream of light filled my room as I awoke to my open curtains. I groaned, and got out of bed, I walked to the bathroom and had a quick shower. The warm water covered my body in a refreshing spray. After a quick dose of shampoo and conditioner, I washed my body and got out. I picked out a pair of light blue jean shorts and a floaty cream top with blue shoes dotted on and a lacy collar. I slipped on a pair of stripy blue and white flip flops before making my way down stairs for breakfast.
"I think we should just tell her now, I think she is getting suspicious." I heard my dad's voice from the kitchen.
"Okay when she comes down we will, I hope she's not too disappointed" my mother answered him.
"And what exactly would I be disappointed at?" I asked as I walked in, helping myself to a bowl of fruit loops.
"Well" my mother started looking uneasily at my dad,
"we are actually going away for the summer, too our friends from collage, Bill and Mary." My mouth fell open, "for how long?" I asked rather sharply. "For the whole summer, they live in the outskirts of Texas, it's really lovely there" my mother finished.
"please don't be disappointed Suiter, they have a child you can hang out with" my dad added in.
"how old is this child?" My eyes narrowed.
"Um" my dad scratched the back of his neck sheepishly and replied;
"ten"
I nearly shouted! I had to give up my relaxing fun summer to go and spent it with a family I never met and play baby sitter with their child. I could tell this was going to be the best summer ever. Not.
I hope you like the first chapter of the story! Sorry it's a bit short, I am just setting the scene!! Hope you are looking forward to the next chapter!
