The next day I woke up well rested although a bit nervous about going on a job hunt. I had a little work experience but not very much since I had always gone to school. Therefore I was not sure if anyone would like to hire me, especially since I was not from here, not even the same country. But I figured I would go around the neighborhood to every store and cafe and introduce myself and leave my resume, which I had prepared together with mom back at home.
I threw my legs of the bed and rose up. Going straight across the room to the window, I pushed the curtains apart and let the sunshine in. From here I could see the entire Queen's park and even a bit further. I had always loved this view and my grandmother and I had spent hours and hours on the balcony painting the skyline. It was a thing we did together, painting all day until dark.
Turning around I faced the huge bedroom which was connected to the bathroom. I walked to the glass doors which belonged to the closet and opened them. I did not have my entire clothing collection with me since it would be too much to carry but I made sure to bring my favorite pieces. I picked out a pair of black jeans and a black long sleeved shirt to look at least somewhat professional. Most of my clothing consisted of sweatshirts and hoodies which personally did not really felt like something you would wear to a job interview. To dress the outfit up a bit more I added a thin golden chain with a stone hanging from it, around my neck and matching earrings in my ears. This felt like the beginning of a new life, and boy if I knew.

After leaving my resume at almost every place I went by I felt exhausted. Walking by the same Starbucks I visited yesterday I decided to go in and take a break. After ordering my coffee the barista said she would bring me my sandwich to my table in a moment so I went to sit down by the window facing the street.
As I watched a car pulling up it got me thinking about yesterday. Why did those girls seem so excited? Who was it that got in that car? Last time I was here the only celebrities there was from this town were Drake and The Weeknd, at least that teenage girls would care about, and I have a hard time thinking are here very much. And if they were they would probably cause an even bigger scene than the one yesterday.
"Here you go" the barista put the plate with the hot sandwich on the table in front of me. "Tough day?" I got torn out of my thoughts and turned my eyes from the street outside to her kindly smiling face.
"Yeah, I have been searching for work" I giggled and then sighed. She smiled sympathetically and nodded.
"I know what that is like, it is not the most fun" she frowned for a short second to emphasize what she had just said. "Why don't you apply here?" she asked. I shrugged and smiled at her.
"Well, do you hire?" I asked, half as a joke, because I was not sure if she was serious. When she tilted her head to the side her light brown hair, which was in a ponytail, followed and swayed a bit. Her green eyes looked genuinely nice through the glass in her eyeglasses.
"Yeah, for sure! Do you have a resume? You know what, that does not matter, you seem like a great girl so follow me and we'll talk more" I looked at her somewhat surprised when I realized she was dead ass serious. Would she hire me on the spot? This was indeed going to be the best day in a long time. I rose up, grabbed my coffee and sandwich and followed her behind the desk into a corridor. There were two doors along the wall, one with a sign on it that said 'Restroom'. I figured that was not it, and as I thought she opened the second door, turned around to check on me, gave me a smile, and went inside.
The room we entered seemed like a regular lunch room, it had one big table with a few chairs and a kitchen counter with a microwave, dishwasher and so on. She pointed at one of the chairs and looked at me while she sat down herself.
"So, basically all I need are your personal info and then you can start your training in the morning how does that sound?" As I was still in shock I just looked at her like she was crazy.
"Are you sure you're going to hire me just like that, for all you know I could be a psychopath" I said and she laughed. Obviously, this was not her first time having someone react like me.
"Yeah, this is kind of how we do it, as long as the person has a good vibe and seems nice we make the judgment ourselves" I nodded slowly, thinking it was a weird way of recruiting people, but at the same time I was just happy to get a job so quickly.
"Well, what do you wanna know?" I smiled, big.

Me and Ava, as I had learned her name was, went outside to the cafe again. We had been chatting inside that lunch room for about an hour now and I could already tell that I and this brown haired girl could be great friends.
"Oh by the way," Ava turned to me and listened. "I was here yesterday and there was, like, chaos outside of the door. What was going on? Did Drake stop by for a frappucino or what?" I giggled about what I just said, finding myself kind of funny. Ava did as well and took off her apron and hung it on the wall next to us.
"No, I wish though" she winked. "Shawn Mendes stopped by and suddenly half the girl in Toronto was on our doorstep" I looked at her curiously.
"Who's Shawn Mendes?" I asked, almost embarrassed, as it seemed like everyone here knew who he was.
"Oh, just like the newest world-known pop star" she laughed. "He's from here."
