ANNI
"Anni can you get that please," Will asked me very sweetly, flashing me his signature smile.I smiled back at him and went to answer the door and there stood, in front of me, was a very distraught Seleen. Mascara smudged down her slender face and her foundation was a complete mess. Her eyes appeared puffy from crying and she gently sobed to her self.
I stared in shock at her, wondering what on earth had happened to her.
"What are you staring at!!" she snaped in my face. Her eyes widened with anger and fear. I took a step back at her harsh comment.
"I....Um.....I,I,I..Um," I stuttered still speechless, ignoring her comment.
Her expression softened when she saw my reaction. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. It's just.....," she started to sob again as I pulled her in for an awkward hug. She continued to cry into my hair, while I patted her back, comforting her.
"Now, why don't you come inside for a coffee or something, then you can tell me." She nodded in agreement and stumbled into the house towards the kitchen.
Together, we walked through the doorway leading to the kitchen while Seleen sobed and wailed into the tissues I gave her as a comfort for her distressed state.
I really was curious in why she was acting like this. It was very rare for her to even think of coming to me and Will for advise, even after us being sisters-in-law for well over two years. I think it was a lack of trust that was missing from us, that pushed us away or maybe the fact she was a total bitch to me, I didn't even know why.
As soon as Will had spotted the upset seleen his faced went from happy to concerned and he dropped what he was doing to sooth her.
I don't know what I would do with out him, he was amazing and so caring and never selfish. I always tried to not be selfish but there were just times that I had to focus on me and my life and not someone else's needs. I had always catered for others when I was younger. Always doing what others needed before doing what I really wanted or had to do.
After a fair bit of Will 's courageous encouraging seleen finally started to explain how she ended up here of all places and in this state. I sounded so judgemental but to be honest, it was true.
"So it all started when I just came back from going to a coffee with my friend and we were talking about the wedding and all that shenanigans and also how excited I was for it." Seleen let out a small breath of air and continued with her story. "And I thought it would be nice if I mentioned this to Geoff because my friend was saying how happy I looked and how I 'glowed' even at the meer mention of him name." She stated quite proudly.
She wishes. I thought to myself. By this point she had stopped wailing into her ruined and dangling tissues in her hands and threw them into the bin next to her.
"Anyway back to the story. I told Geoff all about the coffee and how wonderful it was, and all he did was nod and continue reading the paper in his hands. Probably hadn't even cared what I was talking about and probably didn't listen at all to be honest. That's when I said to him that he didn't care about me or the up coming wedding or the fact that i 'glowed' at the meer mention of his name. That's when he lashed out at me and said I was an bitch for being so self centred and selfish." She finish the recounting in a huff and stumbled over to a chair at the table and crossed her arms.
"Wow." I let the word slip in astonishment, stunned at what had just left Seleen's lips. I had never heard of a more melancholy story in my life. Will also looked shocked but his main emotion was anger. His fists were clenched at his sides. Anger stricken over his face, looking like he could kill someone.
Seleen looked at me in horror, worry masking her face. I really felt she cared about my opinion at this very moment. I was touched by this but it also made me suddenly feel like a weight was put on my shoulders.
My only response was to gradually convince my legs to carry me to where seleen was situated and hug her. Awkward, as it was, she melted into the hug and held on tighter but I didn't mind. She needed this, she needed support and a friend.
"I'm going to kill him." Will spat out. His smile replaced by a tight line of his lips, looking like he was about to pounce.
"I don't blame you." Was all I could choke out.
