Fall Apart

It's been six days since Josh found out about Darren being abusive to me. He hasn't said much to me since and honestly it was best this way. Since Josh was avoiding me, there was less of a reason for Darren to be angry about. Darren and I have actually only gotten closer, he's been very sweet to me and I had been embracing every little second of it. The affection he had showed ranged from long kisses, great sex, and even taking little morning walks on the beach. To say the least, we were in a good spot and I don't think neither of us wanted to mess up our good time together.

"Peaches!" Riley shouts coming down the stairs. "You and I need to talk"

"About what?" I ask shoveling a spoonful of cereal in my mouth.

"About Lucas and I" she sits down next to me. "As you know, him and I have been having a lot of...intimate encounters"

I giggle. "Yeah, no kidding. You two are animals"

"Yeah, well, we've been doing that for two months now" She starts fidgeting with her fingers. "There may have been a couple of times when we didn't use protection"

"Whoa, what are you saying right now?"

"I'm, uh, I'm late" We stare back at each other and I'm in complete disbelief. Riley was the last person I thought would get pregnant while still in school. "I know that it doesn't mean anything just yet, until I take a test, but, I'm freaking out"

"I bet" I pull her into a hug. "We'll get a test today for sure and if it's positive, we'll get you a doctor appointment once we get home, to confirm"

"Hopefully, it will be a false positive. I am so not ready for that"

"Look don't worry about it"

"What are we not worrying about?" Lucas asks upon entering the kitchen going straight for the fridge for a drink.

"Oh, nothing. Just girl stuff" Riley replies back giving me a soft smile.

"Ah. So what is on the itinerary for today, my princess" He scooped Riley up in his arms.

"Maybe just hangout here, swim in the pool instead of going down to the beach"

Lucas nods. "Alright, sounds good. But we should go load up on some more snacks. We still have money left, right?"

"Of course, I have all it all on my debit card. Also my mom said that she will be transferring some extra money tomorrow."

"Awesome. I'm gonna go get dressed and we can head to the store." He placed a kiss on Riley's cheek before going back upstairs.

We had the whole group at the store and our cart was filled with junk food. Typical teenage shopping trip. Riley decided to hold off on getting a pregnancy test, she did not want Lucas to suspect anything just yet. At least until she was sure and to be honest I'm not even sure she would keep the child even if she were pregnant.

"Babe, look, they sell alcohol here" Lucas mentions walking into what is clearly an alcoholic beverage section, with various liquors. "Maybe we can get Josh to buy a few"

"What am I buying now?" Josh speaks up upon hearing his name walking over to Lucas. "More liquor?" He observes. "I suppose I can do that"

"Great! I knew it would be great to have you here" Lucas grabs Josh's shoulders. "You're the best, man"

Josh smiles shaking his head and proceeds to pick out a couple bottles before heading up to the front to pay. As we continued to shop, Darren came up behind me wrapping me in his arms. "Hey, you" I say smiling.
