I screamed up to the heavens as I saw my parents lying on the cold, wet ground; their lifeless bodies had cuts and their clothes shredded, leaving their skin as cold as ice. I started to cry as Victor came out from the tree we were hiding behind.

“They will pay for what they did to you, I swear,” he said.

I stood up and looked at Victor, nodding and signaling him.

“I’m ready to get out of here,” I said. He nodded and called Officer Anderson, and when he was finished, we got into the car and drove off. The drive was silent until Victor broke the quiet.

“You’re quiet. I would have thought you would cry.” Victor teased.

“And I did. But I won’t dwell on it much.” I retaliated.

“Sis, you may say that, but we both know that you’ll be crying in a corner as soon as I’m no longer next to you.”

“Yeah, well… at least they’re safe up in the heavens.”

        “True enough, sis…”

The conversation died down and it became silent again, but not long after, we heard a loud thump on the car roof, and two more following that. I looked at Victor with terror; he glanced in my directing and stepped on the brakes. I heard the tire screech at the sudden impact. When I looked out the window, there was a silhouette that looked like a person; it ran from my side to the other. The car shook and another impact came from the left, and then another sent us flying. After that, there was nothing. Darkness engulfed me.

“...Get up, Sam! Victor needs you!” A voice cried.

I looked around, but there was only utter darkness.

“Please, Sam! Get up! He will die if you don’t help him!” The voice pleaded, and in the pitch black, a soft light shone around the body of a person.

        “Wh-who are you..?” I stammered.

“I am Blue,” she answered. “I’m your inner Guardian- well, part of you anyway.”

Then, another light- a red light- illuminated behind Blue.

“Hello, I am Red,” it said. “I represent your inner wolf. We’ll explain, but first you have to help your brother with fighting off those bad guys. They’re after you, y’know? We’ll see you in a bit.” The lights vanished, and I remember nothing but coming back to.

I lay on the cold, rugged road. I heard nothing but ringing in my ears, and as I looked up, I saw my brother struggling to stand as a shin launched towards his stomach. Victor was sent flying across the road. I tried to look at the figure that kicked him. When I saw them, it was a tall, muscular figure. I couldn’t see his face as he looked towards my direction. As soon as their body started moving towards me, I froze in fear when I realized I couldn’t move. I couldn’t scream, I couldn’t do anything. I whimpered as I shut my eyes.

Thoughts ran through my head. I’m so weak… No wonder why I couldn’t save them- my parents! They’re dead because of me! Why am I so fucking weak?! I shouted my final thoughts aloud.

“You are not weak! You are stronger than you give yourself credit for!” When I heard these words, a giant wolf- six feet tall- jumped up and tackled the figure walking towards me. “Get up, Sam!” It commanded. I recognized the voice.

        “Victor?!” I called.

“Yes, now get up!” The beast grunted while it was thrown to the ground. I tried to push myself up, but failed.
