The light that shone through the open curtains illuminated the room. I looked around noticing that I don’t recognize this room, then I remembered what had happened last night. I heard the door to the room open as I see Victor, all bruised and banged up.

    “Poor guy…” Blue comments.

“Morning Victor,” I say above a whisper. “Where are we?”

“It’s more like afternoon; we’re at Officer Anderson’s apartment,” he answers.

“How did we get here?”

“He saw us on the road and picked us up.” he explained

That doesn’t make any sense, I thought.

“Look, Sam: we need to get out of here before more of those thugs track you down…”

“But we don’t have any place to go!”

“I know a place, but it’s just not here…”

“Then where?”

He handed me a pair of airplane tickets to… “Idaho? How did you get these?” I asked

Victor pulled out a ticket I couldn’t recognize. “I won the lottery. I was gonna tell you, but didn’t get a chance to.”

“How much did you win?” I asked out of curiosity.

“500 milli... ” He trailed off. My jaw dropped, but closed again when I realized that I was going to have to go away from the place I grew up in.

“Come on, sis, no need to get upset over it. We’ll have a fresh start in Idaho; he won’t be able to track us there.”

“Who’s... ‘he?’” I asked him. His expression shifted into that of a dark one. “What’s wrong? Victor, you okay? You’re worrying me..” After this, I felt my body go up in flames. I screamed as Victor held my shoulders in comfort. I gripped the sheets of the bed I was on, with my nails digging into the fabric as I shouted, closing my eyes in the process. I screamed louder. Victor’s hands were no longer on my shoulders, and I opened my eyes to see his hands cover his ears in pain as I screamed louder. My right arm was the most in pain; it felt like a bunch of needles puncturing my arm all over. After hearing a loud thud, my body hit the wooden floor.

Hugging my knees to my chest helped the burning stop, and the needles on the arm ceased. I opened my eyes to inspect what had just happened. Looking at Victor’s wide eyes, he looked at my arm. I followed his gaze onto my arm. To my amazement, my entire limb was covered in all sorts of tattoo markings.

What the hell just happened, I thought.

“It’s the marking of the Moon Goddess.” Red answered.

I stood up and looked at Victor. “Where’s the bathroom?” I asked. He pointed to a door in the corner of the room. Going there, I opened the door and turned the lights on. I scanned over myself in the mirror.

“Who is this?” I thought as I admired this person.

“That’s you,” answered Blue.

“That’s not me. I’m ugly and fat, there is no way in hell that this… hot babe is me.” I looked at myself up and down the mirror.

I leaned in closer to the mirror and looked at my eyes. I had light irises with a golden sclera. As for my face, I had some freckles, but they’re not that visible unless you look close enough. My body structure is what shocked me the most. As I leaned back, my eyes traveled to my midsection to look at the flat belly I have now. My skin is still the same, but I look more tannish.  My gaze traveled to my arm covered in tattoos.

Looking closer, it was the different elements; I could only make out a few that stood out to me. Walking out of the bathroom, I looked at Victor sitting where he was before, in deep thought. I walked over to the bed and sat on the edge of it. Victor looked at me and smiled softly.

“So what do you think about going to Idaho?” he asked.

“I have nothing left to lose, so why not?” I answered. I lay down, but before I drifted off, Victor said, “Happy 15th birthday.”

I fell asleep after he said that.
