Eamon's P.O.V.

My mom and I have been driving for the past 8 hours to move to her boyfriend's house. They've been dating for six months and I have a feeling that he is going to pop the question soon. They met while my mom was at a 3 month internship at the interior design agency in his town. I stayed with my grandparents while she was away and she would come back home every weekend. Now since she made the decision to move there, the interior design agency offered her a job there.
I've talked to her boyfriend David over FaceTime before, but I've never seen him in person. Mom told me he has kids, and I hope they're younger than me because I've always wanted younger siblings.

We finally made it to a medium sized house with a big backyard and mom pulled into the driveway.
We're having our stuff shipped here over the next couple days, but they already have my bed here which is good since I've slept on the floor for the past five days. It's one week until Halloween which I am excited for since I'm being a penguin which is my favourite animal.

Mom's boyfriend came outside and hugged her.
"Hey Eamon." He said.
"Hey." I replied.
"Do you guys need help with anything?" He asked.
"No thanks, honey. We're okay. We only have a couple boxes." Mom answered.

I grabbed my boxes and followed David upstairs.
"So you're sharing the attic with my oldest boy Carson who is at his friend's house right now along with my other two boys." He told me.
I nodded and he said "This is your dresser and you can put whatever you want on these bookshelves. Carson doesn't use them."
I nodded again and he left.
I unpacked the clothes I had and put them in my dresser.
I put my sheets on my bed and started reading my comic books.

After an hour or so, somebody walked into the room and I looked up to see an insanely tall kid.
Holy shit. I'm sharing a room with him? Hell no!
He looked at me and I quickly looked back at my comic book.
He scoffed and said "What's your name?"
"E-Eamon." I replied as he walked over to me.
"Cool. I'm Carson. Don't get in my brother's ways or my way and we'll get along just fine." He said towering over me.
I nodded, scared out of my mind and he smirked.
He hit my comic book down so it hit my face and he left the room.

I continued reading and then mom called me downstairs for dinner.
I walked downstairs and sat down.
"That's my seat, shrimpo." Somebody whisphered in my ear.
I jumped and fell off the chair only to see another boy around Carson's age sit in the chair.
Somebody put me on my feet and put me in the seat on the other side of the table next to Carson.
I didn't look at anybody and mom put a plate of chicken, peas and sweet potatoes in front of me.
"Mom, you know I don't like peas or sweet potatoes." I whined.
"I know but you heard what the pediatrician said. You need to eat more foods that will help you grow. You're under the height of kids your age and underweight." Mom told me as she sat down.
I saw Dave's kids smirk and I said "Mom, stop talking."
"Eamon, it's nothing to be ashamed of. You just are taking a little longer to develop." Mom replied.
"Stop talking, mom!" I exclaimed while getting up and running upstairs to Carson and I's room.

I started silently crying and after twenty minutes, somebody came into my room.
"Honey, I'm sorry." Mom said.
"Sure you are." I replied.
"Eamon, I'm truly sorry. To be honest, I was already planning to tell them." He told me.
"And to be honest, it's not your thing to tell. They will not and do not care. The only people that needed to know are you, me and Dave. Just leave me alone." I told her.
"E monkey-" Mom started.
"Don't E monkey me. Just leave me alone." I replied.
She sighed and walked out of my room.

I stopped crying after a few minutes and was still sniffling when Carson came in.
"You okay?" He asked.
"I'm fine. I just want to be left alone." I answered quietly.
"Good, cause I didn't care anyway. I'm playing video games with my friends. Now don't bother me unless you want to be thrown out the window." He told me while putting his headset on.

I watched him play after a couple minutes and mom called me downstairs after awhile. I went to the living room where they were and since Dave's other kids were sitting on the couch, I sat down as far away from them as possible.
"So Eamon, the high school that the boys go to has a middle school right next to it. But there is also another school that is ten minutes from their school. You need to take a placement test so they know what school to put you in." Dave told me.

"We need to talk to all of you, so can you go get Carson please?" Mom asked.
I nodded and walked upstairs to our room.
I went over to him and he ignored me.
"C-Carson, th-they want you d-downstairs." I told him.
He sighed and stood up.
"Want to go for a ride?" He smirked.
I gave him a confused look and he threw me over his shoulder.
I started screaming and burst into tears because I thought he was going to hurt me like my dad did.
He immediatly put me down and said "Dude, shh. I didn't even hurt you. Stop crying."
I nodded and wiped my eyes and we walked downstairs with him.
"I heard screaming. What did you do to Eamon?" Dave asked Carson.
"I scared him and he fell." Carson answered.
Dave sighed and I sat down on the couch and Carson sat next to me.
I moved a little bit away from him and Dave started talking.

"So Eamon has to do the placement test and since school has already started, one of you needs to stay home from school to watch him. The placement test takes two days to get marked after he takes it, so you guys have to stay home from to watch him." Dave told them.
They nodded and he smiled.
"So who wants to watch him after he takes the placement test tomorrow?" Dave asked.
None of the boys said anything and Dave sighed.
"Wally, you're watching him tomorrow." Dave said.
One of the boys on the other side of the couch sighed and said "But Carson has a car and I don't. How are we gonna get there and back?"
"Fine. Carson you're watching him. No objections." Dave told him.
He sighed and glared at me.
"On Tuesday, Bentley you're watching him." Dave said to the other boy.
"I'll watch him on Wednesday." Wally replied.
"Good, because you didn't have a choice." Dave said.
Wally rolled his eyes and mom said "It's time for bed, E monk-"
I cut her off quickly and said "Good night, Mom."
"Good night, honey." She replied.
I went upstairs and into Carson and I's room.
I got into my bed and fell asleep.
