I let out a groan at the unfamiliar bed and springs that dig into my side. I shift in my spot to try and get comfy. I pressure my mind to gather itself and remember the past few days. Dad gave me the letter and left to do something sheepishly, and me, not wanting to be there when he returns, showed up at my friend Sarah's house requesting to stay for a few days. She had to leave this morning on a trip to her Mothers, and while we aren't the best of friends, she trusts me not to trash the place.

I gather my courage and prepare to get up. Throwing on an old t-shirt, I wander over to the dining room table. My letter of acceptance lays there. You would think I would have read it by now, but I can't bring myself to look at t it. Dad deceived me, and that crime is unforgivable. I was actually looking forward to school for once, even just a little. But something strikes me as off. There is highlighting one particular sentence. Bracing myself, I grab the note and read. "Your classes will start on 2022, September the 23rd. Please refrain from arriving after this date, as your orientation is mandatory"

I gasp for breath. I had thought that classes started weeks ago, not in a few days! I scramble to the room I had been kept in and gather my belongings. I had to leave right away If I was to sign up at get my dorm situated. I had requested a dorm for all the years I would be attending. I have all the things I was going to bring to the dorm at my house yet, so I needed to be sneaky. I would rent a moving van, and pack up when he was at work. I still didn't want an encounter. I don't spend often, and I had already picked the van company and size I would need. I live in Maryland, so I need to act quick. Hold everything, I have an idea that will solve all of these problems at once. except it will present a new issue. I could tell dad that his redemption would be to pay for and drive all my belongings over to the school and I buy a plane ticket. Perfect! I was practically jumping for joy right now. I quickly texted dad, not thinking I would get a response for a few more hours, so it came as a surprise that I got a response before I even put the phone down.

Dad: what do you need im so sorry ill do anything just forgive me

Dragon: I need you to take a moving van that you are paying for to the school that I am attending in three days. objections?

Dad: but i did that too keep you here safe, not go galavanting in the fields of the way far away

Dragon: do you want to be on speaking terms or not. Do as I say and that will be possible.

Dad: fine. ill be out for the next few hours getting a van. i wish i had a car, what about you?

Dragon: Good. I will be packing.

Dad: I love you

Ok, that went perfectly. He will be taking my stuff. If that means I have to sleep on the floor for one night, so be it, as long as I get to orientation. I ride my motorcycle 30 minutes to get to the house and begin putting my things in boxes for dad. There is a new spring in my step as I twirl around the house. Being motivated really helps you get things done plus I don't have a lot I want, so I'm done in two hours. Dad hasn't returned yet, so I leave a note.

Dear Dad: I will be leaving shortly on a plane. you have the address to the school, and I am trusting you to bring my things to me. All my Items are in the boxes in my room, and If there is anything missing later, I will send for you. I would like my things there asap, and at least the day after I arrive. I will be on a plane tomorrow, so I need you to help me set up as well, like any respectable father. I'll see you at school tomorrow or the next day. I love you too.
