Oh hai! I know this chapter is long but once I started I couldn't stop! Enjoy~
'Welcome to Alison's! Do you have a reservation?'
I smiled as I showed the young couple to their seats. I looked at the clock, ten more minutes until I was off the clock then I could go home and get some rest. The horrible nightmare I had last night came to mind, I shivered maybe sleep isn't all that I need. That nightmare last night kept me awake, I had only slept a total of 20 minutes. I looked at the clock, time to go. I sighed, school was starting in a few days and I have no supplies, I saved up but it seems like it won't be enough. I guess I'm going to use all my old stuff again and my old bag has a hole in it, I'll get a new bag and some jeans, don't forget I still have to keep up my half of the rent.
Starting grade 11 university courses and juggling a part-time job seemed tiring just thinking about it. I quickly changed and started to walk home, I looked at my watch: 11:43 PM. It usually takes me an hour to get home now because my bike was recently stolen. I didn't like the thought of being out at midnight but the summer weather was welcoming and the full moons rays lighted my way home. Maybe the library's still open I could grab a book and walk home.
I shook my head too dangerous I could get kidnaped or worse hit by a drunk driver or molested in the alley or get mistaken for a drug dealer or prostitute or or... Calm down this isn't the first time you've been out this late. I was right, no reason to fret, everything was fine. I smiled as I walked.
'What are you smiling about Silveeer?'
I turned to the direction of the sound but there was no one there. I felt my heartbeat quicken, that hoarse voice was terrifying. 'Who's there?' I said shakily, but I received no answer. Calm down, you're braver than this it's just the fatigue that's getting to you, you worked 12 hours with 20 minutes of sleep. Yeah, that's it. I reassured myself that there was nothing there, I turned the corner and walked passed the open library.
'Wouldn't it be a terrible, horrifying thing if you got into a little accident on your way home Silveeeeeer?'
I felt someone tap my shoulder, I quickly turned and saw a severed finger on my shoulder. I opened my mouth but nothing came out, the finger moved and stroked me on the cheek. I turned around and ran into the library, there was an adult man working behind the librarian desk. 'When does the library close?' I asked between breaths trying to hold back the tears. The library was empty except for the boy. '24 hours little girl.' I nodded and made my way to the corner where no one goes and I kept my bean bag chair. I grabbed a random book and sat down. I sighed and rubbed my temple, I looked back at my shoulder and the finger was gone.
That happened Silver, there's no denying it. I could still feel its cold touch on my cheek. There was a severed finger on my shoulder, there was a severed finger on my shoulder, there was a severed finger on my shoulder. I said it so many times it to sounded way too ridiculous, I laughed aloud. 'What are you laughing about?' I looked up and it was the man from the front desk. 'Oh nothing just laughing at this book.' He looked at the title of the book, 'The history of World War II?' I looked around, 'Hitler was a funny man, I think he took comedy when he wasn't slaughtering people.' The man looked frightened, 'Why are you here this late youngin'?' I shrugged and told him I liked reading.
'Well, does your mom know you're here?'
'She sent me here.' I lied.
'Why?'
'I don't know. Something about having a bigger vocabulary.'
'Well, I'm going into the back room so don't steal anything because cameras are watching.' He patted my head and made his way to the back room. He was gone for 20 minutes so I decided to rest my eyes for 10 minutes, I put in my headphones into my custom made alarm watch and set the alarm for 10 minutes. I rested my head on my shoulder and closed my eyes. For what seemed like two seconds the alarm blared in my ears and before I could turn it off it shut off. I looked down at my watch and saw the severed finger resting on my watch. I pulled the headphones off and shook the finger away from my watch.
