Ashley and Lana have known each other since they were children in kindergarten. He has stood by her side from the very beginning, and they have been inseparable ever since. Until the day that Ashley finds out he is given the position of his dreams in a band he has always wanted to be in. He goes and tells Lana the good news, breaking her heart in the process...
“Lana, guess what?” Ashley asks Lana as he grips her arms gently, bouncing up and down with excitement.
“What is it, Ashley?” She replies back, scared of what his answer will be. He looks at her smiling before responding, “I am moving out to L.A. A guy who is starting a rock band has asked me to be his bass player, and I agreed!”
(Lana POV)
As soon as Ashley said these words to me, my heart shattered into billions of little pieces. My best friend in the entire world was leaving me to join a band. I look back up into his eyes and fake happiness, hugging him and congratulating him for following his dream. He kisses my cheek before heading back to his home for the last time and packs his belongings he is taking with him into a suitcase and he drives off into the sunset. I watch his car drive down the street, and I quietly sob on the windowsill, hoping he will never forget me...
(Ashley’s POV)
I saw the hurt in Lana’s eyes as I told her that my dream was coming true. I look over into the backseat of my Durango at my two Pomeranians, Killer and Tokyo before heaving a sigh and making the 3days trip to Los Angeles to meet my new “boss” and bandmate, Andy. I just wish I hadn’t left my best friend of forever alone in Missouri. I wish I had brought her with me... hopefully she’ll forgive me for abandoning her...
