The sky was turning a mosaic of yellows, purples, and oranges when Lily got back. Nine squirrels hanging from her belt. A bloody rag hanging from her pants pocket. Her knife on her belt, nice and clean. The knife in her bra, hasn't been touched. As she walked towards a couple of logs that were placed around a dancing fire, she got out her knife again and sat down. Noticing everyone had their eyes on her, she picked up one of the squirrels, and she started to skin it after gutting it. She could hear someone walking up behind her, to small to be an adult, and sit down beside her on the log. Taking a quick glance at who sat down beside her, she found out it was Julie's little boy, Mark. The young boy was looking down at the squirrel she was skinning. Just a hint of curiosity in his brown eyes. It reminded Lily of when she was a kid. Her dad showed her and her brother how to hunt and skin animals for food. This was before her mother left. Before everything went downhill.
'Ah, c'est la vie. Such is life.'
A smile lit her face. She always had a soft spot for kids. Looking over to the curious young boy, she could only say one thing to him. "If you want to learn...Go ask your momma. I don't want to get your momma mad at me because I went to teach you something she doesn't want you to learn. Go ask her.", a smile lit on his face before he scrambled away. Chuckling, she got back to skinning the squirrel. A few moments of silence went by, She got the skin and fur off in one easy pelt. Putting the pelt aside, she grabbed a couple metal skewer's, skewered the squirrel and put it on the fire. The embers shooting up to the sky, almost like giving the heavens a sign.
Lily was halfway through the second squirrel when she heard footsteps once again. Not a child's, an adults. The left foot seemed heavier. A smirk came upon her face. Deciding to have some fun. "Kyle right?", hearing a quick gasp she knew her fun was just beginning. Looking behind her, Kyle was looking at her like she had grown to heads. Lily grinned and continued to skin the animal, paused a few seconds to pat the seat next to her on the log. "You gonna sit or just stare at me like I'm a unicorn?", apparently her rough voice was enough to get him to snap out of his daze. The man grabbed a squirrel before sitting down, and continues to skin their food.
"Didn't feel right to let you do all the skinning when I'm capable. But, uh how did you know it was me?", Kyle didn't seem like a man of many words. But, a curious person can't always keep the questions in their head. A sly smirk came upon Lily's face. Everyone asks that question. Her men just stopped asking her at some point in time because they would only be confused by her answers. Or she would just laugh and shake her head. Like she was doing now. But, today would be different.
Lily kept skinning her second squirrel while she talked. "Your left foot is heavier then the other. Presumably a small handgun or a large knife. I noticed it when you walked up to me when we first met. It's easy to learn who it is by there footsteps. My men hated my 'spidey senses' or 'wolfy senses' as they called them. But when we were out on a mission, if i sensed something...They would listen to it. They learned the hard way to listen.", by glancing over at Kyle, she could only smirk at the astonished look he had on his face. A look she has seen many times.
All Kyle did was get back to skinning the squirrel, trying to wrap his head around what the young woman had told him. Never had he heard of something like that. He didn't know if Lily was kidding or being completely honest with him. Granted he heard what Bruce had said to her. About her. Lies about his brother? He's never talked about his brother before. How about how she's been through hell before? Granted, she is, was, a soldier. Wherever she was deployed had to been hell. But Lily said that Bruce's brother ambushed her and the rest of her men, killing them and then almost killing her. Just more puzzle pieces to whoever Lily truly was. Not that she seemed like the talkative type. More of the sarcastic, broody, rough, to the point type of person.
Lily was something Kyle wanted to figure out.
