My alarm went off and my arm immediately shot out, pulling the plug from the wall. That wasn't the best way to shut off the alarm because it meant I'd have to reprogram the clock when I plugged it back in, but it'd become a habit so there was no stopping it.

I heard birds chirping, my my ears perking up at the sound. I stretched, making a small whining noise as I did so.

I listened for any sound in the house and sure enough after a few moments I heard loud footsteps running up the stairs. I braced myself as the door flung open to reveal my roommate, Hange, who wasted no time jumping on top of me.

"Morning, LEVI!" They yelled and I pushed them harshly off the bed.

"Fuck off, Hange."

"Aw," they pouted. "Grumpy today, aren't you? OOooo! Can I call you Grumpy Cat?"

"Fuck no!" I shouted and got out of bed. "You do it even once and I'll rip your throat out."

Hange pouted but stood up as well. "Why are you so grumpy anyways? It's your first day at your new school!"

"That is precisely why I'm grumpy." I muttered and moved to grab a towel and some clothes so I could shower. I didn't really like getting wet at all but I'd make that sacrifice to be clean. Being clean was very important to me and I'd been told as a kid that it was weird to lick yourself clean like normal cats did.

Hange left my room, probably to get ready themself and make breakfast. I stepped into the shower, my tail instantly wrapping around my right leg due to my annoyance with the water.

I showered quickly and changed into black jeans, a hoodie, and Vans. I grabbed one of my many beanies from my dresser and put it over my drying hair and ears. I flattened my ears against my head and made sure the beanie was secure. Once I was satisfied, I wrapped my tail around my stomach under my black tank top and hoodie.

I grabbed my book bag and made my way downstairs where Hange was waiting with a tuna filled omelette.

I smiled at it and ate quickly, licking the fork and plate afterwords. Hange took it and washed it when I'd finished and I walked out to the car. Hange got in next to me and we drove off to school.

Once we got to school, Hange showed me around a bit before running off to class in a panic. We hadn't realized it, but somehow the bell had rung during our tour without us noticing and we were now twenty minutes late to class. Hange had history first so I knew they wouldn't get in trouble, they always told me about the the history teacher was pretty lenient, especially with the seniors.

I, however, had physics first and I knew I would get in trouble. As soon as I stepped into the class the teacher, Mrs. Warner, glared at me.

"Why are you late?" She asked in a better-than-thou tone of voice.

I rolled my eyes which only served to irritate her more. "I'm new. I got lost." I lied.

"That's no excuse; you should've had someone show you where to go." The woman said and pulled out a slip of paper I recognized from my old school. "You have detention, Mr..." She glanced at the roster. "Ackerman."

I took the slip and sat down in the back next to a strawberry blonde haired girl.

"Hi," she smiled. "I'm Petra!"

She held out a hand and I hesitantly shook it. "Levi," I told her. "Hange's told me about you."

Hange always came home and talked for an hour about the events of the school day and about all their different friends. I was sure they knew everyone in the fucking school.
