They say that love is forever – your forever is all that I need.”

I screamed. The first thing I did when I heard Harry Styles was scream. As his voice reverberated from the surrounding speakers, I screamed. And I've never even been a screamer before. Suddenly, I found myself swaying, swooning, lovestruck. It was pop star cookie cutter music and I generally hated stuff like this, but as I watched the 5 boys bounce around the stage with wide smiles on their faces, I couldn't help but go along with it. I could barely make out the lyrics, but whenever I could hear their voices it was like a little sliver of heaven had wriggled into my ears.

Everyone says that love at first sight is stupid – it's a cliché and it's not true. Those people are cynics, and sure, I'm not jaded yet, but I swear, I'm in love.

Hi, my name is Teddy Hawthorne. I'm about 18 years old and a senior in some little known private school in upstate New York. Recently, I was introduced to pop music, and surprisingly enough, I liked it. The main reason why was because One Direction was the first popular music group I've ever listened to. It helps that every single one of them – maybe save Louis – is drop dead gorgeous. Yesterday, as apart of an award that my school gives it's Valedictorian, I was given One Direction backstage passes and tickets.

Let me just say right now – stay in school and get good grades.

Even as sweat started to cause the hairs in my ponytail to get stuck to my neck and my arms and legs to start feeling unbearably sticky, I couldn't stop swaying and moving. Nothing could bring me down from the high of my very first concert and just watching them. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them again, I found that I was standing in complete darkness and all the bodies around me had stopped moving. Suddenly, 5 spotlights flashed onstage, and I watched as Harry Styles himself came front and center, a slow smile curving onto his lips. I watched in awe as he glanced down at a slip of paper in his hand. And then his voice boomed throughout the now whispering stadium. “Teddy Hawthorne? Are you out there tonight? As a reward from your school, you've been chosen to come up to the stage and let us serenade you tonight.”

I couldn't speak. Suddenly, terror washed through my body, and I started to fix my hair, and lick my lips, frightened. Did I have something on my face? Did I smell? I stumbled forwards, and I found that I was now walking to the stage, my back straight, standing like I was used to this kind of attention all my life. I bit my lip, hard, practically drawing blood. Harry grinned as he saw me approaching the stage and I heard the boys muttering. “She's rather fit, yeah?” I blushed, and tried to hide my face behind my hair, but I realized that it was up in a ponytail.

“So, Teddy. Is this exciting, or...?” Harry said, walking towards me, one hand out. I couldn't speak, and I stood there gaping at him, probably looking like a retarded fish. When I didn't take his hand, he grabbed mines, and I felt my heart speed up, beating so hard that I could have sworn that it was about to beat right out of my chest. “This next song, One Thing, is dedicated to Teddy.” He said, his eyes on mines.

I couldn't even breathe. Spots began to invade my vision and I realized that it was because I hadn't taken a breath for while. I turned towards the audience and saw a mass of flaming red hair in the screens across the stadium. I gaped, watching as some girl's face stared back at me. The girl was stunned. Her light blue eyes were wide, looking gigantic even though her eyelashes were barely there. Her eyeliner had smudged just slightly, but she still looked well-made. Her cheeks were scarlet red, and her lips were the same color from haven been bitten. She looked like she was turning purple, and I watched as the girl heaved a breath and turned towards Harry. I realized that girl was me.

I watched as he opened his mouth and sung the entire song to me. And it wasn't until after the song did I realize that it wasn't even his song to perform. I couldn't speak. It was like the entire world had stopped, and everything was now happening in slow-motion. I watched as all of the boys turned towards me, walked towards me, hands holding one other. I watched as the girl's pale hand slipped into Harry's – and I watched as they all bowed at the same time.
