Gabrielle's POV
"Loving you was sunshine, safe and sound
A steady place to let down my defenses
But loving you had consequences"-----------------
I was standing there with a piece of letter on my hand. It was from Gilbert, my brother. He was working as one of the professors in Hogwarts. I was here at the ministry of magic, working under my all time crush, Theseus Scamander as an auror. Theseus and I used to date each other for three years back during that time when we were young and free. We spent a romantic three years back then before we broke up. We broke up after mum and dad got killed during a fight with Grindelwald a year ago. Right before I passed my Auror Qualification.
I frequently sent an owl to Gilbert to watch over him, like how he would do to me. He was the only family I had left. Mum and Dad were killed in a fight with the followers of Gellert Grindelwald. Oh, My name's Gabrielle Aubrey Lockhart. Everyone called me Brielle or Brie for short. I am 33 and I worked at the Ministry of Magic as one of their Aurors. And although Theseus was very upright, I always happened to fall for him.
"Staring out of the window again, huh?" This time a tall guy came into the office and caught me staring out of the window for nothing.
"Uh, what are you doing here?" I stuttered as he came closer to me. I was trying to hide Gilbert's letter.
"Why are you stuttering? coffee?" he asked.
"I don't drink coffee." I shrugged. It was not particularly a lie. I couldn't drink coffee at all although I could still handle a jug of butter beer.
"Then why are you staring outside the window?" he asked.
"Theseus, I've been meaning to ask you this. Can I take a day off? I wanted to visit the Sanctum," I asked as I looked right into his eyes.
"You'll be dismissed tomorrow, Brie. I knew it's your parents' mourning day tomorrow. so, I'll come to your place together with Newt and Leta if you are okay with that," He said as he flashed that smile that melted my heart since the day we were sorted into the same house back in our first year at Hogwarts.
"Oh, Theseus, thank you," I blushed as I looked down onto my shoes. I didn't realise I began crying silently.
"Hey, I knew it's hard for you to lose Margaret and Edward during your early teenage years." His warm hands engulfed onto mine.
"What am I to receive such kindness from you, from my superior at work," I looked down.
"Look at me, You deserve all the kindness, Brie. That one day you got detention in replacement of me because you didn't want the prefect badge to be removed from me, That one day I knew your heart is made of gold," He said as he hugged me.
Is it wrong of me to hope that someday we might meet again? And that our stars would be aligned. I thought to myself as I hugged him.
"We are not supposed to be like this. What if Leta sees us?" I said as I broke out of his hug. I wiped out my tears and ran out of his room.
I fell too hard for him. Yet he is betrothed to Leta.
What should I do?
------
Theseus' POV
To tell you the truth, I never had fallen this hard for a girl. this quiet and sweet girl called Gabrielle Lockhart. Brielle was my closest classmate. among all of my friends, she's the kindest and I fell for that. Too bad, Leta got me first. She was Newt's best friend and I met her through my brother. Soon after that, I began to drift apart from Brielle. I kept my eyes on her. Even when she passed her Auror exam, I immediately got her into my team before any of the senior aurors pulled her into their teams. I wouldn't lie. I still am in love with her although I am already betrothed to Leta in the meantime.
That moment Brielle ran out of the room, Leta came in with a pot of tea in her hand. It was her favorite, Black Chamomile Tea with a dash of lemongrass in it. It smelled really calming.
"Tea," She offered as she poured some into my tea cup.
"Thank you, Leta," I said as I inhaled the scent into the depth of my lung.
"Tomorrow is the death anniversary of Margaret and Edward," She said. "Are we coming to the Lockhart mansion to bid them both our respects?" She asked.
"Yes, tell Newt to come with us to the ceremony. Brielle and Gilbert would appreciate so much," I nodded slightly before sipping the tea.
"I'll get your black tie suit ready, Mr. Auror," Leta said as she smiled and tidied my tie.
The Sanctum had been a memorable place for the both of us back then during the days we were dating each other. I looked through the window as soon as Leta left my office and my mind immediately soared back to the days when we were dating each other.

[flashback]
1903- Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,
It was during our fourth year of school...I was sitting inside the common room with a book on my hand. It was the book I decided to buy at flourish and Blotts before I got back to the school. Brielle had just gotten back from the library. her hands were dirty from the stains of the ink. She looked so worn out. I put down my book and helped her with those heavy spell books on her hands.
"Here, let me help," I said as I took the books from her.
"It's okay, T," She said. She didn't look really okay though. her eyes were really droopy.
"I'll get the book. you sit at the couch. I'll make you some hot tea." I said as I sat her books down the coffee table and let her sit on one of the couches in the common room.
I came back with a cup of tea with milk and a drizzle of vanilla powder. That was how she liked her tea to be.
"Here you go," I smiled and handed the tea to her.
"Thanks," She smiled and leaned on to my shoulder after I took the seat beside her. "How come you memorized how I liked my tea?" she asked.
"Because I am watching for you, love," I said leaning my head over hers.
"Theseus," She said. I knew she was crying because my shoulder suddenly got wet.
"I love you, Brie," I said, leveling myself closer to her and kissing her soft pinkish lips.
"How come you know I love you too," She asked as she blushed.
"Well, the owls had been busy talking about it." I joked as she hugged me warmly. To be really honest, I started watching over her after I saw her biggest fear during the Defence against the Dark Arts, when the Boggart took place of her fears. Her biggest fear was oblivion. forgetting the person she loved the most. Since then, I quietly sneaked her favourite shepherd's pie every thanksgiving, a huge teddy bear in her room on her birthday. I always managed to watch over her and get her all the love she's supposed to have.
"Ahem, I see pinks in the yellow hufflepuff emblem," Gilbert teased.
"Gilbert," She whined.
"Come and join our christmas at The Sanctum this year, Theseus. Mum and Dad will be happy to see you and Gabrielle together. She'd been talking about you all summer," Gilbert said, teasing his younger sister.
"I will do, Gil," I smiled as she whined due to Gilbert teasing her.

Christmas, 1903
The Sanctum
Edward and Margaret welcomed me like a family of their own. They gave me presents just like how they gave some to their kids. I felt welcomed in the family. Since that night, I took her to visit my family during summer, and spent christmas together with her family at The Sanctum. Up until we decided to walk a different path apart from each other.
