"You're never at home anymore Tao! How are you going to look after us if you're always at work" You yelled at your husband, after being sick in the en-suite toilet.
"Both of us?" He asked.
"I'm pregnant" You said.
"How many weeks?" He questioned.
"9." You said shyly, not looking at him. You've known for 2 weeks.
"How long have you known?" His voice slightly louder at the end.
"2 weeks. I was gonna to tell you, soon." You said, staring at your flat stomach.
"WHEN? YOU KNOW WE ARE NOT READY FOR THIS. I'M ABOUT TO GO ON TOUR!" He yelled.
"I don't know" You whispered with teary eyes. Tao never shouted at you. You started to go downstairs.
"DON'T RUN AWAY FROM ME! WE HAVEN'T FINISHED TALKING" He shouted. You felt a hand grab your shoulder. You shrugged it off and Tao pushed you into the bannister.
"Stop" You murmured, pushing him away.
Tao tried to push you into the bannister but you tripped on the step and fell the rest of the way down the stairs. You landed on your stomach and grabbed your head, you removed your hand as soon as your felt something wet. Blood. You cringed and Tao crouched at your side, you flinched.
"Baozhai, you're bleeding down there. Oh my God. I'm gonna call 119." He said and got his phone out. You start to feel weak. Your eyes start to close and you feel yourself slipping into unconsciousness.
You opened your eyes, still fatigued. The lights of the room made you temporarily blinded. You blinked until it was less painful and tried to move your head. That hurt too, but somehow you managed to do it. There you saw Tao holding your hand with his face down on the bed. He seemed to be asleep.
You pressed the call button that was on the bed and a light above your bed started flashing and a siren began to ring out. It wasn't a very loud siren because it would disturb everybody else on the ward. A nurse appeared sharply and checked your vitals. She told you everything was normal, but you knew something was wrong.
You reached out for the glass of water on your bedside table and the nurse grabbed it and gave it to you. You took a couple of big sips before tried to sit up. The nurse found the controller for your bed and adjusted it for you.
"How's the baby?" You asked quietly.
"I'm so sorry Mrs Huang, you lost the baby." The nurse said.
"What?" You asked.
"You landed on your stomach, which upset the baby and then your body reacted to the baby's unusual movements. Your body know when to get rid of intruders in your system. It thought the baby was an intruder. I'm so sorry." The nurse explained sympathetically.
