I enter the class room and take a seat next to my friend, Faith. We are seated in the back right of the room. We talk until the new teacher comes in.
"Good morning class. It's so nice to see everyone's lovely faces. Now since I'm new we are going to go around the room and each of you are going to tell me your name, what you did this summer, and something interesting about you. Now I'll start since I'm the teacher, then we will go to the back right." He says. Oh great that's Faith then me.
" I'm Mr. Mendes. I spent my summer back home in Canada with my family. Lastly, I used to write music and perform for open mics. Now let's start with you young lady." He states while pointing at Faith.
"Hi I'm Faith. I spent my summer with my boyfriend and family, and I hate my job." She says the last part so bluntly that everyone bursts into laughter.
"Alright and what about you Ms-"
"Dallas" I say interrupting him a little.
"Alright ms Dallas. Is Mr. Dallas your brother?" He asks cluelessly.
"Yes. And you can call me Leah or Leah Marie. I spent my summer traveling all over the US, and I have a huge passion for animals. I actually want to move to Texas after I finish college to work for a vet clinic there." I ramble. His eyes on me the whole time.
"Okay over achiever.  Sit down. He didn't ask for your whole life plan." Faith says while giggling.
The whole class finishes their topics just as the bell rings.
"Ms. Dallas do you mind staying back? I would like to ask you some more questions about your future." He asks.
"Sure. I don't mind my next class is right through that door." I point at the door in the back of the room where Faith and I sit.
"So where do you plan on going to college?"
" I plan on going out of state to LSU in Louisiana."
"Oh what makes you want to go there?"
"I have some friends that are there. So I just want to go somewhere where I already have some friends. Plus they have a great Veterinary Medicine program."
"Oh that's nice. Well I guess I'll let you get to class now. By the way, I think you look very, very nice today." He says with a smirk on his face. Oh. My. Goodness. Is he hitting on me?
