~ Liz POV ~

"Heeey, Liz."

I grin up at the two walking in the door.

"Hey, Reed. Hey, Selena. Long time no see."

"Well, we've seen you. You've been all over the news."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Mac's on there all the time, his daughter getting kidnapped is news."

I groan. I'm not the type of person who wants to be in the spotlight. Especially not like this.

"It's okay, Liz."

"Yeah, sure Reed. You're a reporter yourself."

"Journalist," corrects my half-brother.

"Reed." Selena socks him in the arm, and Mac grins.

"Good to see you two getting along so well."

"Mac!"

He's grinning. "Sibling rivalry," he laughs.

I roll my eyes. "So what have I missed the last two weeks?" I ask Selena.

"Not much. I have a job and an apartment, I'm thinking of changing my last name."

We talk for awhile, and Reed and Mac talk.

""Why are you thinking of changing your last name?"

"Well, you know I never had a last name at the orphanage, so when I ran away I just started using Smith, because it was so common it would be difficult to trace."

I nod to show I'm following.

"Now that I know who I am, I want to change it. I've talked to Reed about it, but I'd like to speak to Mac before I make a decision."

"Cool."

"So, Liz..." Reed looks hesitant to continue. "How - How're you doing?"

"I'm okay," I reply, after a pause. "I've been better, of course, but it's good to be back. Of course, there's going to be a lot of changes, but.... It's better than being with him."

There was no question to whom the 'him' referred too.

"I - I might as well tell you guys now. It looks like I'm going to have a baby."

Dad must have already told Mac. He's much calmer than Reed and Selena.

"I - I didn't figure Dad had told you yet. It's - It's complicated, but I - I mean, you guys, you know..."

"Liz," Selena said softly. "Is it his - your kidnapper's?"

I take a deep breath. "Yeah. We - I might as well start calling him what he told me to. I hate it, but it'll make things less complicated. It's - His name is - John."
