It happened so fast, one moment I am cheering for the capitals on the home game win the next I am in shock at feeling water dripping down my leg. I was expecting this to happen since I am a week over my due date. It took at least the whole morning and a promise to go to the hospital if something happens to convince Andre to let me go to the game. Well, I guess its ok to have the baby now since it's the end of the game and they have a two day break before the next game so Andre can be there.
"Hey, uh taylor?" Taylor, Tom Wilson's girlfriend, immediately turns around when I call for her, being this far into the pregnancy everyone around you knows it could be any day and the baby decided today was THE day. "Yes?" she answered, although she knew what was happening when she looked down at the water and the uneasy smile I had on my face. "It's time" I respond to her. She smiles and calls out to for Braden Holtby's wife Brandi, in the room where the other women are,"it's baby time!" she yells out also catching the women's attention. Taylor asks her to take me the hospital since she doesn't know what to do. Agreeing, Brandi asks Taylor to get Andre. Nodding her head, she went to get him.
"Ok how is the pain now Y/N?" she asked me slowly "Not bad, just feels like a basic stomach ache for now" I responded "Good, we'll still head to the hospital just in case it goes by fast".
It didn't take long to get to the car. By then Andre was out and running to the car. Once he was inside and door was closed, we took off to the hospital. "Hey! How are you?" he asks, out of breath, while reaching for the seat belt.
"Not too bad. I thought i'd be in like killer pain butt its light cramps for now" I respond back in a surprised voice. "Is that that good or?" he asks Brandi who is driving. "Well for now its okay good, but it could change at any moment. Its fast, very fast" she reassured him. He was nervous, I could tell from the way he was playing my hand. He also had a look on his face. He was looking around outside everywhere. Although he wasn't looking at me, I smiled at him.
Half an hour and a couple contractions later, I was sat comfortably in a hospital bed, hooked up to a couple machines. They even strapped a contraction tracker to me. Brandi was sent to sit in the waiting room where the whole team was waiting too, Andre was the only one one that was allowed in the room with me during the delivery. "4 CM" My doctor, Dr Stocknee, said as she checked how dilated I was. "It should go by fast from here, not too long before you get to meet your son" she added, smiling towards me, taking off her gloves. I smiled, looking towards Andre but he was already smiling at me with a loving look in his eyes.
"So are you ready to meet our son?" I asked, after going through a contraction, I smiled when he answered "as ready as I ever been." About what felt like forever, which was only 2 hours at least and 20 minutes of pushing, our son was finally born. 6 pounds 2 ounces 18 inches long and said to be a health baby, he was absolutely perfect to us. Although he was still crying at the top of his little lungs still covered in fluids, I fell in love him even more than before. Everyone around us were in the background , all my attention was on him. I took in his facial features. He had Andre's mouth, nose, eye shoe, skin tone, hair, ears basically he was Andre's mini me and I loved that. The stroking of Andre's finger on the baby boy's cheek broke me from my thoughts and stopped the crying coming from the baby, making him open his eyes.
As predicted, he has Andres eyes. With his little brown eyes now open, he stares back at us. Tears come to my eyes when the realization that 'I made this beautiful baby' comes to mind. I look up at Andre, who also has tears in his eyes looking down at the baby before glancing back at me "you did it Y/N, look at what you made us" he said amazed. He leaned in to give me a kiss a soft kiss before going back to admiring the baby. After a couple of seconds, a soft voiced nurse broke us from our thoughts "Excuse me? I am here to take baby to get clean and checked" I look down frowning a little not wanting to let him go yet. " I promise to bring him back to momma as fast as I can. Momma will get cleaned along with new bed sheets" she reassured me. I sign, kiss his head and hand him off to the nurse. We watch him until we can't see him anymore.
"Hey we still didn't give him a name yet" Andre reminds me, after getting clean sheets placed on the bed, cleaned off and the baby back. I smile after a couple seconds of thinking "I have the perfect name" he grins after I tell him. "Why don't you go get the team to introduce the newest member of the family?" I suggest to Andre, who agrees and leaves to do so. It was a small room but somehow the whole team and significant others fit. The women aww'd at the sight of the baby, the men asked for the name. Andre and look at each other and say, looking back towards the team, "Thomas Michael Andre Burakovsky" Almost everyone gasps "YES!" both Tom and Michael cheer as everyone laughs at them and go back to admiring the baby. "Wait!" Nate Schmidt yells out catching everyone's attention after a couple of minutes "that means his initials are T.M.A.B. which also spells ' The Most Adorable Baby' which he soooo is, congrats guys he is perfect" he says and everyone else agrees "oh wow it does I didn't even notice, thank you!" I say surprised laughing a little after thinking about. Andre and I share a smile, looking back at everyone feeling happy.
