I didn't expect to be in this kind of situation in my life, I had it good until this happened but I wouldn't change it for the world. They are now my whole life, everything I do is for them. The moment I met them I decided that. I found out I had 5 daughters, quintuplets is the right word for it. Their mother had went to court for possession of drugs and child abuse. Not against them but her other children, 4 others to be exact, knowing that she did that disgusts me. The children had to live in what looks like a pig sty. Not my girls, they learned at a young age how to live on their own, they could have lived on their own if it weren't for the government intervening with this situation. The girls even told even if they didn't notify me about this they would have come and find me. My heart breaks at the thought of what it was like growing up with no father.

I am currently sat their hockey game thinking back to that moment, waiting for the police officer to tell us our DNA tests but we already knew they were mine, they look like me. I couldn't stop staring at them, still in shock, while they were on their phones occasionally laughing at something and showing the others. I remember I was broken out of my thoughts by a door in the back of me opening , "ok we have the results and I am happy to say that these girls are yours Mr Crosby" those words changed my life. I had looked towards them, for some reason they had their heads down, with a smile. I frowned and turned back to the officer "Thank you for confirming it to us" "Your welcome. We have the papers for you to sign to put them under your name, if you want" the officer had said "Ok I will sign them " I said to the officer without a second thought, they nodded their head and walked back to their desk to gather the papers needed. "You don't have to sign the papers even if we are your biological children" one of the girls said after the officer went back to their desk after giving me the papers. "I want to" I say back to them and they all put their head back down. I didn't understand what was going on with them but I knew I'd find out later. The papers I had in my hands had all their information;

Selena, Cynthia, Sabrina, Crystal, Cindy

Age: 17

Born: May 24 2001 Halifax Nova Scotia.

Hair: One Black One Blonde The rest brown

All play : Hockey, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer and Football.

Other: dance hip hop ballet gymnastic

'huh, they like to stay active' I thought to myself, signing everywhere I needed to sign. "Are we going to be living with you now?" I looked up from the papers to one of the girls, Selena I believe is the one with black hair asked, to answer "yes after we are done here, we will go get all your things and move them to my house" I said as I signaled to the officer that I was finished. "Ok" she says looking at her sisters and got up along with them. "Were just gonna get some air" I believe Crystal said. I nodded my head and told them I'd be out in a few. As they left I finalized the changes of my life, I am now a father to 5 16 your girls. We got their things from where they were living and went back to mine to get them situated and everything has been well ever since.

I am brought back to current times by a goal horn signifying that someone scored. I smile and stood up clapping my hands when I've come to find out Sabrina is the one that scored, Selena and Cynthia assisted. They all play for the same team even the same line. Cindy and Crystal the best defensive duo on the team, Selena Cynthia Sabrina the best trio on the team. They told me that every coach they've played for was always confused why they played the way they play, even their current coach, until they met me. They didn't ask questions after that. I was proud of them, all of them.

They've come from so far, big change from when they were living with their mother. They've told me countless times, even had nightmares, about the fear they had of their mother. They dreaded the day she'd hit one of them, just waiting for it to happen so they could report her, the other kids couldn't because she told them not to say a word. She had 9 in total. It's been a couple of months since court day but I remember what she said. How could I not, they were so ruthless. "I did drugs so I could tolerate those little f@#@ers, I hit them when they annoy me" she said to which my lawyer asked why didn't she just put them up for adoption " my mother wouldn't let me, told me to deal with my own mistakes". The judge had heard enough and she was immediately sentenced to life in prison. To me my kids aren't mistakes, they are just a big surprise.

I watch the rest of the game with a smile. My girls each score a goal, they all dedicate their goals to me, made me almost tear up at that sight. I waited in the hallway of the locker rooms after the game. Occasional giving autographs here and there. It took a couple of minutes to come out one by one, each receiving a hug. I stand back to look at them, smiling until Cindy asks "dad are you ok?" I smile at them "Yes I am, I'm just so thankful for you guys" they smile back looking at each other feeling the love radiant between us. "Can we get ice cream?" Selena exclaims suddenly jumping around, "yes we can" I say laughing as she dances/runs out the door the rest walking behind. Everything was difficult at first but it all worked out okay.
