I lock the door behind me as I walk down the icy pathway. The grass is covered in a blanket of snow, the hedges draped in frost. I make my way through town. It was freezing. I had my jacket on, I don't have a winter coat. After 5 minutes I'm standing in front of the shopping centre (mall). I walk inside and instantly warm up. The smell of hot chocolate fills the air.

10 days until Christmas. Tinsel is hanging above every shop door. Reindeer and Santa Claus decorations are everywhere. The shops are filled with all kinds of gifts, that I will never get.

As I lose focus from what I meant to be doing and look at all the wonderful gifts, I lay eyes on the most beautiful camera I've ever seen. I've always wanted to make videos, but I have no equipment. Youtube is probably the 8th wonder of the world. It's amazing.

I then snap back to reality and realize that I've been staring at the shop window for 3 minutes. I have gathered a crowd of people looking at 'the weird girl staring at a stupid camera.' I then scurry of to buy the groceries.

After what feels like a millennium, I finally have bought everything I need. I make my way to self service because real people are no help. I finish and carry my heavy bags home. I some how manage to get everything into the house.

I run upstairs to grab my laptop and do online school for an hour while having lunch. I get back to my chores and clean the room and do the laundry. I then begin to scrub the floors. I finish then lynx comes into the house, her dirty paw prints now covering the clean floors.

"bad kitty." I scold as the cat hisses. I wash the floors again while lynx ventures into the kitchen.  I then start to wash the windows, I pull back the curtains to see the most beautiful view from such a horrible place. Living here is like hell, but worse. I begin to wash with my tiny rag. I then spot something in the garden. Is that...a dog.

I throw my rag to the ground and open the door. The dog notices me and trots towards me. It's a little female pug...with one eye.

"hello, what happened to your eye?" I ask her as I scratch between her ears. she barks in response, I laugh. " I wish I could keep you." That's when I had an idea.

'the twins used to have a dog a few years ago, until it died. The old dog kennel is back there and no one goes back there anyway its full of weeds and dirt and hedges bigger than me thats where I could keep her.'

"Follow me." I tell the dog as we run round the house. I open the gate to the dog house, or mansion and the dog runs inside.

"what should I call you?" I ponder as I sit down. The energetic pug comes and sits next to me.

"what about, fluffy?" I ask the dog doesn't seem to agree. "okay then, bark when you hear a name that you like." I say, not expecting a reply.

"bubbles?"

"ruby?"

"Maya?" that's when she begins to bark...and lick my face. "alright, Maya it is." I sit with dog for a while until I have to go make dinner.

"I'm going to go now, I'll be back tomorrow but until then you have to promise me to stay quiet okay?" I question. Like she understood every word Maya.was quiet for the rest of the night. The bin (garbage can) is out back where Maya is and since we didn't have any dog food, I fed some left overs to Maya. Then went back inside.

I now have 2 friends, Maya and my life long friend Daizo, She knows my situation and helps me through it, Like occasionally takes my shift at my job. She's my best and only human friend. I go to my room and get ready for bed. Afterwards I sit on my bed and drift off to sleep.
