chapter three:
"Come in girls!" We all shuffle into the room with our matching purple and grey ALDC dance wear."You won last week!" We all cheer and hug. Then, Abby becomes more serious.
"Now, pyramid. On the bottom, Kendall. Sixth on the pyramid and sixth in the competition. Hm." Kendall looks down, sadly.
"Mackenzie. Fine. Work on pointing your toes." Mackenzie nods as Abby moves on. "Brynn. I didn't notice you. At all. Maybe you should fix this." Abby says, motioning to her face.
"On the second row, Kalani. Great job, as usual. Maddie. I debated putting you this high because you came in second. But, you did tie with..." Abby takes the top picture off to reveal my headshot.
"Fiona. Fiona, you got first place on your first week here and beat Maddie." I smile. "However..." My smile fades into a frown. "You are still on probation."
"With all due respect Abby, I think Fiona is better than some girls who aren't on probation!" My mom says.
"Mom, stop." I mumble. "You're just making it worse." I feel Maddie grab my hand and squeeze it. I smile.
"Alison, maybe you should listen to your daughter?" Abby says, motioning to me.
"We also have another team member on probation. Thanks for the reminder, Alison." Abby points to Kendall's picture.
"Kendall, you are back on probation." Kendall starts crying and Jill starts yelling at Abby.
"She's been on this team for so many years, and she get sixth without a teacher? You don't care about my child!"
We all just stand there, shocked.
"C'mon, Kendall. We're leaving." We all snap back in time to see Kendall walk out of the door with Jill.
"Don't let the door hit you on the way out!" Abby screeches.
We all just stand there for a minute, silent and shocked.
"Everyone's replaceable, girls.
Anyway, on to assignments." Abby says. "This week, Fiona, you are in the group." I smile as everyone else cheers.
"It is entitled 'Boundary' and it's about a girl, Fiona, pushing past the boundaries people place for her.""There are two solos again. One is Maddie. You lost. To Fiona. I'm giving you another chance to be my top dancer." Maddie nods. "This week, you have a lyrical piece called 'Seconds Wasted', about a girl who doesn't have much time left."
"The other solo is Fiona. I want you to prove that you beating Maddie wasn't a fluke." I nod. "You have a musical theater piece entitled 'Newspaper', and it is a homage to the musical 'Newsies'."
I smile at the fact that I finally have a musical theater piece, and I love the musical Newsies! I hope I can beat Maddie again and prove that I deserve to be here.
"We also have a contemporary trio called 'Forever' that was going to be Kalani, Brynn, and Kendall. But now, it is Kalani, Brynn, and Mackenzie." They all cheer and hug each other.
"Alright, Girls! Because Kendall doesn't care about this team, I'm bringing in a replacement. She'll be here by tomorrow, so, unfortunately, we can't work on the group yet."
We all nod as we start stretching. "So, I'll start with the trio after stretching."
***
After stretching, Maddie and I go into the dancer's den to wait for rehearsal. We decide to go on our social medias.
Then, we see something crazy that we can't believe.
