Chapter 2

Ismini's POV

Now'days I don't see Lauren around the house much anymore, Jayde has become very silent and I'm starting to worry. Our parents had gone out of town for a few days and so I decided to text Sarah, a newly aqquired friend- best friend of mine. Jayde had been seeking refuge in our bedroom more than usual these days, hiding away in her burrito of what her psychiatrist calls social anxiety and depression. She's happy everytime I see her, but now that I know the truth, I don't know how to act around her, her emotions are so fragile I could be extremely blunt with her instead of raging at her and it would still cause, say, a panic attack.

To be honest I have no idea as to why our parents would leave now, of all times, when their daughters definitley need them. So, I am taking it upon myself to assess the situation, Jayde is always indoors, therefore we must venture out. We're going camping.

I walk into her room and take out the suit cases we'd recently packed for a school trip, the possibility of going to that was a total bust with what me and Jayde had unleashed on our 10th grade class, which in all honesty wasn't that big of a deal in my opinion. I glanced over at Jayde's bed to find her sprawled out on her mattress with the majority of the doona covering her face, her hand darped over the side of her bed, her knuckles almost skimming the ground. A dark brown/green shadow engulfed Jayde's wrist overtaking my attention I was pulled toward it to inspect the find closer.

As I squatted down to inspect the bruise, Jayde had lifted her head out of the blanket and her arm in, obscuring it from my sight. The confusion on my face was quickly replaced with a tired smile, the last thing I want is Jayde getting upset over my worry of her safety.

Overtime of Lauren's disapearance Jayde had started to this wonderful mask of emotion, a barrier, a wall she had started rebuilding, shutting people out. I was sadly among the few. The last thing Jayde wanted was anyone feeling sorry for her.

"Good morning, babe," I said before adding a wink and rising back up to my original height and flattening out my jeans.

"Come on, get up." I started heading toward the bathroom with the two suit cases in tow to pack toiletries.

"Why? What's happening?" Jayde inquired yawning afterwards, poor thing, mum had been slipping her sleeping pill after sleeping pil, she'd had troubles falling asleep lately, this was the only way for her to get any rest. Sometimes she'd get to skip whole days of school just to catch up on rest.

"Drink some coffee, we're going camping." I said in a sing-song tone before nudging the door shut with my hip.

"But I don't drink coffee." I headr faintly before giggling as I made my way to the restroom.

Within an hour, Sarah had arrived, I had packed all the necesities but Jayde still lacked motivation to rise out of bed. I, being privy to Sarah's prescense came up with a plan to surprise Jayde by taking Sarah camping with us, surely a close friend would have helped keep thoughts at bay for a bit.

I sent Sarah up the stairs with Jayde's breakfast she's helped me prepare, this time Jayde is definitley eating. I hear a shout of joy and found this the best time to verture upstairs to collect them both.

After convincing Jayde to eat as we were going to be walking on foot we all took a place in various places of the room, while me and Sarah waited we'd gotten Jayde to set up a game of C.O.D. to keep us entertained. I'm hopeless with technology, part of the reason why I never use my phone, so when I message my parents, they just know something is definitley wrong.

"You know what Jayde? I'm really not surprised that you never leave your room, It's comfy in here. But...where do you poo-"

"Anyway." I said cutting Sarah off and jumping into a different topic to take Sarah's mind away from Jayde's wellbeing, I'm always so clueless to Jayde's privacy issues, she doesn't talk about anything personal with me anymore like she used to, she's more closed off. I do not like this side of her. The quiet side.

Halfway throught the game Jayde started choking on her eggs as "Robb96 wants to join" appeared on the screen. Jayde dropped her fork and snatched the controller from me as a smile overtook her face. She started to giggle uncontrollably as she plugged her headphones in and assumed her usual position infront of the tv in her bean bag, she'd used it so much that it was basically a mould for her body to sit in. Me and Sarah sat in the room for a bit as she talked to Rob. talking and laughing every now and then. We silently made our way out of the room and down the stairs to watch tv whilst we waited for her to finish.

"When are we going to go?" Sarh kept questioning every 10 minutes, I must admit, I was getting quite restless just waiting around, but I'd never seen Jayde so happy.

A movie, constant chatting, and two episodes of friends later, It was 10 o'clock Jayde appeared at the top of the stairs with a everlasting smile that tricked me into thinking that everything would be okay.

"Guess who else is coming."
