Ringing. Loud, piercing ringing is all I hear. I open my eyes and all I can see is pure white. It's so bright. I close my eyes again and reach my hands up to touch my temples. My head hurts with an unbearable pain, like a migraine but worse.
"Mmm" I groan out in pain. Suddenly I remember what has happened and I snap out of it. I frantically reach next to me, trying to reach out for Casey. I feel her arm and I open my eyes once more, terrified of what I might see. I shouldn't have. There lies Casey, one of my best friends... Lifeless... Tears fill my eyes and spill over onto my cheeks.
"No..." I whisper. I take in what I see, not comparing the damage done to me. I start sobbing, my sobs turning to screams.
"No, no no no no no... No No No NO NO!!!!!!!!!" Casey's arm is bloody and huge shards of glass stick out of my best friend's neck and body, all down her arms and chest. I reach to caress her face with my other hand but I get stopped by the shearing pain spreading through my body. I look down and notice small shards of glass stuck to me, my clothes and skin cut, and I start crying more. I ignore the pain and reach for my friend's face anyways and caress it, as if it would suddenly make things okay again. Out in the distance I can hear sirens and know they're coming to help us... I cry and cry, tears streaming down my face like a never ending river. I wait, and wait. Painfully. The ambulance finally reaches us after what seems like an eternity. They get out of the vehicle and see that I'm conscious.
"Go, go now, get the stretcher!" I hear a deep voice and my vision starts fading. I know I'm about to pass out. And then, it happens.
