I found a field of sunflowers today,
The yellow petals stretched on for miles.
I found a safe spot today,
In the middle of the flowers that make me smile,
Something about those yellow leaves and brown seeds,
They offer warmth another never could,
The grey of the past left on that day,
The color scheme of the future came into view,
The cold lifeless body you left is now ready to bloom,
Funny how we don't see the beauty in little things,
Like the dew melting off of the petals in the summer,
Or the seedlings ready to sprout in the spring,
not even the leaves turning brown ready to fall off of the trees.
I found this spot in the field of life the day you stopped looking.
With those yearning eyes. The day you stopped wanting the best for me
So you, my dear I am going to have to sacrifice.
Sacrifice to make room for more seeds for more flowers to bloom.
For the field I speak of.... is in me.
