Chapter 9: Don't Talk To Me

"Now who is sorry now ?"

I didn't go to school today. I didn't have the energy and I just didn't want to go all together. Elom has been blowing up my phone and so had James and the girls. I'm only answering to my mama and Martin. Today was going to be a boring day. At least I thought it was. My mom didn't have to go to work today so that's good. I never really get to see my mom a lot cause she works all damn day.

I remember waking up from my nap yesterday and Martin was gone, but he left me a message letting me know he was ok. I walk into my Mama's room seeing her laying on her bed playing a game on her phone. I jump on the bed next to her and she smiles at me. "Remind me why you ain't go to school today ?", she asks me. "Cause Ma I didn't feel like it" "That ain't what ya said this morning miss thang", she said.

"You said you ain't wanna go to school today cause you ain't wanna see Elom.", she says putting her phone down. "Tell me what happened Jada." I hesitated for a bit. I wonder what she'll say if I tell her I like Elom. Yea deep down I still do have feelings for him. "Mama I like Elom." "Oh child I knew that !" "How you found out ?", I ask with a small smile. "That night I came home you was sleep on the couch, I made Elom take you up to yo room then when I went to check on y'all, I saw y'all cuddling."

I blushed remembering that night. "But continue, tell me what happened." "Well Elom would kiss me a lot and flirt with me making me think he likes me but then yesterday at lunch he embarrassed and said I was just a one time thing", I say fiddling with my fingers. I do this every time I'm nervous. It's a habit of mine. "Did you think maybe he was just joking with you ?", my mom says playing with my hair.

"No mama. The way he said them words made me feel like he meant it." "Well Jada, you might not wanna hear this but it's good advice. Elom loves you. Deep down I know you believe it. Until he actually shows you that he wants to be with you and tells you himself, move on babygirl." I was now laying on my Mama's chest as she hugged me tightly.

"Boys will come and go. But that also shouldn't stop you from talking to him. You don't have to talk to him now, I know he hurt you.", she said kissing my forehead. "Thank you mama. I love you." "I love you too baby. Now, I gotta surprise for ya so we need to get dress so we can go.", she said getting up out the bed. "We going to see TJ today."

I screamed and hugged my mother tightly. I haven't seen my cousin in months. Tommy is like my brother so I basically tell everybody he is. I just wish he was out of jail. It ain't been the same at home since he was arrested. I'm always home alone and it's so quiet. I run to my room and start getting dressed. I looked at my phone to see what time it was and it was 3:00. Looks like the crew just got out of school.

After I got dressed I headed downstairs to the kitchen. I heard the front door open. "Oh hey Elom ! What you doing here baby ?", I heard my mother say. I roll my eyes and continue to get me some snacks out of the fridge. "Can I speak to Jada ?" "Yea she's in the kitchen."

I slam the fridge shut and then I started fixing me a drink. I hadn't noticed Elom walking in. "Hey Jada.", he said. I continued to pour my drink. "Where you going ?", he asked. "Don't worry about where I'm going.", I say finishing up with my drink taking a sip out of the cup. "Jada I'm sorry. I'm so sorry and I do mean it." "Just like how you meant what you said at school yesterday. Yea I know."

"No I swear I ain't mean to hurt you.", he says walking closer to me. "You swear on everything so just stop, and get the fuck out my way.", I say pushing past him. I go to open the front door so I can get to the car but Elom gets in my way. "Jada, I like you.", he says putting his hands on my waist. He's trying to brain wash me. I push him off of me and he hits the front door.
