A black she-cat was crawling through the forest, moonlight dappling her dark fur, the crunchy snow beneath her paws. She slowly crawled forwards, her claws unsheathed as she followed the scent trail of a mouse. The trail was leading her to the base of a tall oak tree, where the cat saw a mouse nibbling on some kind of nut. The black cat pounced suddenly, landing her paws on the small animal and she swift bit it's neck, killing the piece of now fresh-kill. She sighed and stood up, holding the scrawny mouse in her jaws as she looked around for the signs of more prey. Not seeing any, she began walked deeper into the forest. Soon, she heard the leaves above her rustling, as if something was moving she looked up, expecting to see a bird or squirrel, only to the the figure of a cat laying on the branch. It looked like the cat was sleeping, and based on the scent, It was the silky black cat's friend, Honeyfern. Rolling her eyes, the she-cat dropped her piece of prey and climbed into the tree, standing on a branch above the one her friend was laying on.

Chuckling to herself, she started shaking the branch so the the leaves rustled. Based on Honeyfern's instant reaction by jumping up and then desperately clinging onto the branch while hanging off of the side of it, the pale brown tabby had woken up. The black cat burst into laughter, surprised the plan had worked, before slipping off the tree branch, clinging onto it with her claws quickly as well. She heard Honeyfern chuckle quietly, and the black cat smiled softly. "It's your fair punishment, Hollyleaf!" She exclaimed, climbing back up onto the tree. Hollyleaf sighed, grabbing onto Honeyfern's paws, who then helped her up.

"I know, I know, you've told me about twenty times already!" Hollyleaf responded humorously, Honeyfern chuckling before sitting down on the branch that the both stood on. "Well, maybe that's because you keep pranking me!" She responded, Hollyleaf rolling her eyes with a smile on her face. Hollyleaf sat down as well, looking at the tabby she-cat she was with.

"How're things with Berrynose going?" She asked, feeling nervous on the inside. Every time she asked Honeyfern the question, she hoped that it wouldn't be a positive response. She knew why she felt that way, though. She quickly snapped out of her thoughts as Honeyfern spoke. "Not very good, I'm afraid," she sighed. "She keeps looking at Poppyfrost with a kind of romantic face. I'm starting to feel like he likes her instead of me..."

Hollyleaf heard and twitched her ear, instantly feeling upset. How could Berrynose do that to Honeyfern? That's just unjust and cruel!

He'd better not be cheating on Honeyfern, or I swear-

"Hey, Hollyleaf, what're you thinking about? You really seem lost in your thoughts right about now," she commented, Hollyleaf snapping out of her thoughts before sitting up straight. "Nothing!" She exclaimed, Honeyfern tilting her head.

Hollyleaf then quickly jumped off the branch, landing on another one before reaching the ground. As she reached the floor, she turned back to look at Honeyfern, who looked somewhat distraught, probably due to her situation with Berrynose. Hollyleaf thought before she spoke up, wanting to make Honeyfern feel better. "How about we go for a walk instead? I'm sure that'd cheer you up!" The black cat recommended, seeing a small smile show on her friend's face before she nodded, leaping down from the tree as well. Hollyleaf smiled as Honeyfern stopped at her side, beginning to walk as Hollyleaf followed shortly behind her.
