A/n:

To all readers, enjoy!

“How’s your last exam?” I ask Mindy the moment she threw herself on the bed just like I did.

“Good” she sighs, releasing relief. “Yours?” she holds the question for me this time.

“Nothing to be compared from the probationary days” I mutter, frowning. Mindy doesn’t see this. She’s under my bed—double-decked bed.

Mindy does not know about the cookie. The tale about the mysterious cookie didn’t leak out our department as we were all busy about the new expansion of the new food line. The third day came, still with a cookie on each of our tables.

“Didn’t Ms. Mendoza tell she’s not the one who’s giving the cookies?” Diana was still aghast from the cookie treats.

“Even the janitor can’t say who's putting them on our tables” I told them “even the security—“

“There’s nothing wrong with a cookie, as long as we were all given” Stephanie coaxed us to stop our murmuring in the pantry, holding her cookie and coffee close to her sitting beside me and Diana.

“Not on my first job” Diana contains her grief as she clamped her head hunched to the round table.

“What are you so worried about?” I crossed my arms together. After hearing many stories from the old janitor yesterday she started to be jumpy and paranoid.

“What if this office is haunted?” she rolled her head trying to suppress her fear, “I won’t ever volunteer to make overtimes.”

“Even if it offers you bonus?” I reminded her jokingly

“How sweet is that? A romantic spook” Steph smiled, abundant with beauty, brain, and sarcasm.

“It’s not normal. Sir Dino said, it was a first, he never mentioned something horror and something romantic too” I insisted siding to my senior.

“Why would they tell us when there’s a chance for them to be out of this haunted place for good? She gasped at her realization.

“What kind of nonsense are you talking! Can a ghost bake us cookies or buy it from a store like a normal who-do-you-think-I-am human?” Stephanie is surely a radical person.

A muffled noise underneath my pillow interrupts me from the day’s review, receiving a text from Susan. Inviting me for tomorrow’s supper, missing them now is a strange feeling to linger with.

“Let’s eat outside?” Mindy rolls over to her feet and sneaks into me “and promise me you’ll go tomorrow with us” she demands excitedly, with this my brow arches. Susan texted her sister too.

“Why would I miss a night with my friend? I want to invite El too” her brows hike up. “What?” I smile at her sudden change of expression.

“Nothing” she exclaims before relaxing her face.

It’s still seven at night when we get to feed on our plates.

“What do you think?” she opens up continuing on nibbling her food. “We will be meeting at the dorm then we’re set to go” she smiles at me her eyes not meeting mine, but the eagerness she had earlier gone.

“Yeah, I wanted to see Susan too and ask her about the job she was texting me about” I continue ignoring the reasons behind her reactions.

I treat Susan and Mindy as a family since we were distant relative, ma told me this. What a small world we live in to think my high school schoolmate and college best friend is my relative. It was a good coincidence meeting them with, but not their brother. I don’t like him. They are of three siblings.
