Background:
Gaseul was born on May 17, 1998 in Ganseok-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, South Korea. Gaseul's father runs a music store and her mother is a vocal coach. Given her parents jobs it's only natural that Gaseul would be interested in music. Her mom started giving her vocal lessons when Gaseul was only 3 years old. A year later her father learned her how to play the guitar, and after that many other instruments followed. Gaseul auditioned for JYP in 2009, when she was only 11 years old. For her audition Gaseul sang 'Nobody' by the Wonder Girls. She got accepted and officially started training in early 2010.
