"Austin, I don't know, I don't like her. At all." I said frowning.
"Please, I really need you to do this for me!" He said, grabbing my shoulders.
"Okay, okay, fine." I said taking his hands off of my shoulders. The bell rang, "I gotta go to class!" I said, running to my next class.
----------
The only time I could talk to her was in gym, and in lunch. Both options were terrible. At lunch, she was surrounded by her cheer friends, and I want to talk to her alone. Yet, if I talked to her in gym, the only time I could talk to her was in the locker room, while we were changing. I mean, I am not gay or anything, but I know it would be awkward to talk to her while she's half naked. I thought of a plan as I headed towards my gym class, hoping to beat her to the locker room, so we could talk before she took her clothes off. I cursed at myself, I didn't even want to do this. I opened the door to the girl's locker room, and found that she wasn't there yet. I sighed in relief. Then before I could think of what to say, she stepped in, earbuds in her ears. She walked towards her locker, opening it. I panicked, and walked over, gently tapping her on her shoulder. She took out an earbud before turning around. As soon as she looked at me, she frowned, and turned back around.
"Wait! Can I talk to you?" I said, sounding way too desperate. I mean, I am desperate, but still. She sighed and turned around, taking out the other earbud also.
"What? I am having a bad day, I don't want you to make it worse."
"Look, I am... sorry? For yesterday." I said, my face starting to heat up as she undressed as we talked. She noticed my staring and covered her chest.
"What are you? Gay?" She asked, her face red as well. I choked.
"No! Not at all!" I blushed, and looked away, "Sorry!" I covered my eyes. She started to laugh, a giggle that was making me question my sexuality.
"Look, you don't need to be scared of what I'd think. I am bi." She said, smiling at me for the first time.
"I am pretty sure I am straight, though." I said, lying. It was clear I was attracted to her, but I didn't want to admit it. I fidgeted with my fingers, feeling hot now, pretending not to know why.
"Whatever you say, but, okay. I accept your apology." She smiled and then frowned, "I am sorry too, I actually think it is cool that you made it into the basketball team, even though it was originally an all-boys team." She confessed. I smiled and fought the urge to hug her half-naked self.
"Thanks." I said starting to walk away, until she grabbed my wrist.
"Here's my number, y'know, if you want to talk sometime." She handed me a strip of paper, with her number on it. I only nodded in response, taking it.
----------
"So, how did it go? Are you guys best-buds yet? Does she still lo- I mean, does she still talk about me?" Austin asked, demanding an answer.
"Austin, friendships take time. Besides, I think she wants something other than a friendship." Austin, being a dumb person, didn't understand what I meant by that and just smiled.
"Just make sure that you get information about how she feels for me." He said. For once, I felt suspicious about Austin's desires.
"Uh, didn't she break up with you? Isn't it obvious how she feels?" I asked, a little concerned.
"Oh, uh, yeah. She can still like me, y'know." He said, quickly.
"Alright. It will take some time, though." I said, walking away.
----------
"Hey." A voice said. At the sound of this voice, my stomach held butterflies, and the feeling made me sick.
"Oh, uh, hey!" I said, and face-palmed myself because of my awkwardness. She giggled.
"You are just as awkward on the phone!" I couldn't see myself, but if I could, my face would match a tomato.
"Yeah, I guess." I agreed.
"So, what do you do in your spare time?" She asked, sounding completely and utterly interested in me. I gulped.
"I uh, I draw, and listen to music. I also dance and sing, but I am not good at those things."
"Is that why I hear music? Were you singing to it?" She asked, laughing a bit.
"Yeah, I was."
"Sing for me!"
"No." I said immediately.
"Please?"
"No."
"Come on."
"No."
"I will sing with you!"
"No."
"Come on!" She suggested, I almost gave in.
"No, Abby." Then I heard a gasp.
"Hey! I love that song!" She yelled out, and I almost laughed to how cute- I mean, weird she sounded.
"Perfect by Ed Sheeran?" I asked, but I wasn't surprised. I knew she would be the kind to like lovey-dovey songs. I hate romance, it is gross.
"Yes! Come on please!" Well, I did know all the words.
"Fine. Just for you." I laughed, and the first verse started."

"I found a love,
for me.
Darling just dive right in,
follow my lead.
Well I found a girl,
beautiful and sweet.
Oh I never knew you were the someone,
waiting for me."

I realized she wasn't singing, and my anxiety built up, but I kept going.

"We were just kids when we fell in love,
not knowing what it was.
I will not give you up,
this time.
Darling just kiss me slow,
your heart is all I own.
And in your eyes you're holding mine.
Baby, I'm,
dancing in the dark,
with you between my arms,
barefoot on the grass,
listening to our favorite song.
When you said you looked a mess,
I whispered underneath my breath,
but you heard it.
Darling you look perfect tonight."

"I think that's enough." I said, covering my face, even though she couldn't see me.
"Oh my god! That was so good!" She exclaimed, making me blush.
"Not really, but thank you."
"No, really, I loved it! It was perfect." I snorted.
"Did you really just make a pun?" I asked, laughing.
"Yeah, and what are you going to do about it?" She asked, being suggestive.
"I dunno." I said, laughing more.
----------
We seemed to talk for hours, but it was only an hour and fourty-six minutes.
"I need to go, but I have a question for you before I do." She said, and I smiled.
"And what is that?" I asked.

"Do you want to go on a date?"
