Both types of Catori employ the use of ancient spells to both harm and protect the Aliantitahs. The spells, along with their pronunciation, translation, use, and effect are listed below. Note: The spells are derived from Norwegian and a couple of other languages. The translation is not the true translation of the words in some cases.
Both Catoris also have an ingrained ability to make it seem that whatever they are doing or an Aliantitah is doing appear normal to Humans. This ability is called Kappe ("Cloak") and is enhanced when the Catori is within range of an Aliantitah. The ability acts as a cloak and interferes with what the Human(s) find normal and acceptable behavior. The Catori can enhance this ability (as well as others) by making their eyes pulse with light.

"Sjokk henne" (Suh-jock hen-neigh)
- Translation: "Shock them"
- Use: To painfully shock an Aliantitah at close range using an electrical current that is high enough to hurt, but not severely injure or kill; it's more like a sort of deterrent (like pepper spray or a taser)

"Hindre" (Hen-dree)
- Translation: "Restrain" or "Hold back"
- Use: To paralyze an Aliantitah through contact; keeps them from fighting back or from trying to get away. Often used by the Chocheta Catori on an Aliantitah that they're about to kill.

"Lase opp" (Lass-say opp)
- Translation: "Unlock" or "Free"
- Use: To get rid of obstacles in the Catori's way. Also used to reverse the effects of "Hindre".

"Innkalle" (In-call-lee)
- Translation: "Summon"
- Use: To instantly summon a weapon that is appropriate for the Catori's needs

"Ganetliyvsdi" (Gan-net-lie-vis-dee)
- Translation: "Prepare for the true reveal"
- Use: To force an Aliantitah in Human form to prepare to reveal its true appearance.

"Ratkahthnos kahon'tsi ohne'ta" (Rat-cath-nose cah-hone-tea own-neh-tah)
- Translation: "Reveal your true self, beast"
- Use: To force an Aliantitah in Human form to reveal its true appearance; often painfully.

"Bas dhut, ainmhidh fiadhaich" (Bas dah-hut, ani-muhid-uh fee-ahd-high-each)
- Translation: "Death to you, foul beast"
- Use: Causes an Aliantitah to suffer a prolonged, painful death

- Translation: "Heal"
- Use: To heal minor cuts, scrapes, and puncture wounds on an Aliantitah.
