Nicole kept her head held high as she walked backstage. It had been a week since her and John's fake and real break up. She hadn't heard anything from the man. Not a call, not a text. He hadn't even asked anyone how she was doing. Nicole knew her and John were becoming distant, but she didn't expect them to break up. She had learned to deal with his mood swings and consistent trips to overseas places to film new movies. She didn't know what the deal was with him lately, but she had no motivation or desire to find out.
Instead, she had been focusing more on her new friendship with her full time travel partner. When she was with him, she felt as though she could say or act any way she wanted to. John was always so serious with her. Always talking about his career or potential movie auditions. He never asked about what was going on with her career, or with her new companies with Brie. Nicole felt as though this break up was a blessing in disguise, but she was yet to admit it yet to herself. She loved the idea of John, she just didn't love him.
It was Tuesday night Smackdown, and Nicole was preparing for a scripted video that was to be posted on the WWE Instagram page. She looked over her lines, when her attention was caught by a bitterly familiar voice. "Has anyone seen Nicole?" Someone pointed him in her direction, and their eyes locked. "John.. what are you doing here?" She asked the man she didn't want to see. "I need to talk to you." Nicole scoffed. "You couldn't have spoken to me a week ago?" "I wanted to see you in person. This is the only day I could get off. Please, let me talk to you." She scoffed once more, and followed as he lead her to his locker room. Of course they gave him his own locker room, he's not even performing tonight! She thought to herself as she entered the room and he closed the door after her.
"I'm just gonna put this out there bluntly— I want you back Nicole. This whole publicity thing was stupid. And you're right, I should've asked you first. I just didn't think about it, and my manager convinced me it was a good idea, so I just wanted to go through with it as soon as possible. But it was dumb, and I realize that now. I want the world to know how much I love you." Nicole swooned at his words, but began to remember all of the other things that pestered her about John. She never thought about them until now. In her eyes, he was always perfect, but this incident has made her question every little thing. "I just don't think I can handle this anymore John. The constant traveling and time away from each other. We never even set a date for our wedding! We've been engaged for three months, and not one thing has been planned. And I'm just so tired of making sacrifices for you. The whole marriage thing was fine— I could settle with just being your girlfriend. But not having kids? I don't think I can give that up, and I'm not getting any younger."
John sat there for a moment and digested her words. "You know I can't do kids, Nicole. If you're saying I can't make time for you, then how am I supposed to have time for a kid! I don't want them to grow up not having good memories with their father." Nicole sighed and put her head in her hands. She wanted kids more than anything. One of her lifelong dreams was to be a mother, and like she said to John, she's not getting any younger. "I'll give you a week to think about this John, about what you really want. So think long and hard, because I already have my decision set." And with that, Nicole left his locker room without giving him another chance to speak. She scurried away to her previous location, trying as hard as she could to not cry.
"Woah woah woah, slow down! These floors are slippery!" She heard her silly travel pal joke. She turned to face him, tears welling up in her eyes. She tried to make them go away, but she didn't know how. Without saying another word, he hugged her. Nicole smiled into the hug, and gripped him tightly. "Hey, back away from my girl, kid." She heard John speak, her eyes immediately darting open. They broke the hug quickly, and the men got in each other's faces. "You're a real dick, you know that." He spat in John's face. Nicole felt her stomach drop, and a gulp of nervousness filled her throat. She appreciated him sticking up for her, it was almost flattering— and it made Nicole feel something she's never felt before: lust.
Nicole could tell John was quickly getting heated at the man's words. He didn't even need to speak. Instead, he spoke with his fists and immediately pummeled him into the ground, it was broken up almost immediately, but not before he got a few shots in on John. "Knock it off, boys. Don't need two of my top talent scrapping." Paul said, pushing the two boys away from each other more. He looked past John, and at Nicole. "I need to see you in my office, now." Nicole gulped, and eyed the two men.
Nicole knew John had good intentions, but didn't appreciate him trying to make a big deal out of nothing. Oh boy, imagine how he's going to be once he finds out I'm rooming with another man. Nicole didn't even want to think about that, as she headed towards Paul's office. "What is the deal with those two?" He asked her, the anger no longer appeared on his face. "John and I aren't together any longer. He saw me hugging someone else, and I guess he got mad." Paul shook his head at her words. "That is no way a top superstar should be acting, especially a veteran! I'll have him escorted out of the building, he shouldn't be messing with you anymore." Nicole nodded and smiled. "Thanks Paul." She left his office, and went back to film her video. Boy, what a day. She thought to herself, as she readied herself to film.

Updates won't be as regular, since I'm back in school, but I'll try to get out at least one a week, maybe more.
Also, the sorry that he hasn't been a very big part in the story so far. The next few chapters will develop their relationship more, maybe some smut. ;)))
