After awhile of running, the fire had finally died on both sides, and the sun was starting to rise. The grass was now nothing but dirt, and snow flakes flew along the air, although there was no snow, nor clouds to provide them. Skeletons were now laying across the fields.
Ayana was still fast asleep. Nothing from that night had woken her up, not the yelling, nor the screeching nor the shrieking. Neither their yelling nor their running. She stayed fast asleep through it all, and was still asleep. They were worried it was from the poison in her veins, but there was nothing they could do about it, for it was still her blood, and if they tried to remove it by cutting her skin, she would die from infection. Her hope loves were at a stable five, and even shiri had came to worry about her and lecture them about their carelessness.
"What were you guys even thinking." he trailed along behind them, as for they had picked up their speed, knowing he wasn't the fastest floater. "You could've gotten all of you killed, and I wouldn't have been able to help you!" they knew this, for it would be an affect to their physical bodies, not their hope levels, and Shiri can only heal wounds related to hope levels.
Except for the poison sadly.
"Yeah yeah Shiri, we know we know. It was Nicks fault, blame him. He kicked the torch." Ethan bluntly stated, kicking out his own torch.
"It rolled from under my foot!" it made him angry being accused of something he never did, he didn't want to set the fields on fire, he was simply trying to put the torch out.
"Yeah right. You were always destructive." a pain in his chest, he knew it was true, sure, but he didn't want to hear it. It was why he was the prince of darkness after all, always breaking everything, where everything bad happened. He looked down at Ayana, still sleeping in his arms. Should she not be awake by now? She had slept all night, and now the sun was starting to rise higher into the sky, already out of its burnt, grassy bed. He assumed it was because of the night before, having to sleep on the ground couldn't be comfortable after all.
She smiled up at him, wind blowing at her hair, almost blinding her with a blindfold of her soft hair. It was night, he had wondered why she was out so late, wouldn't Ethan be worried? The silver plate was high above them, casting shadows swallowed by darkness on the ground below their feet, almost climbing up to consume their living counterparts.
"You never answered me on why you were out here so late." he repeated himself, she always tried to avoid talking about her home life. It must've been hard if she wasn't talking about it, but then why does she always smile?
"I..." there was obvious hesitance in her voice, "I didn't want to stay home." he could understand it completely, after all, he was out for the same reason.
His parents were arguing, as per usual. But now, it wasn't just the normal bickering over what to have for dinner, what to watch or how the furniture should be arranged, or if they should move or not. No, tonight it was about him. His mother wanted to keep him at home, in hope that he'd change. His father however, no longer wanted anything to do with him. He wanted to kick him out of the house, until he changes his ways and stop being a delinquent. He had came home, with yet another cut arm and bruised side from yet another fight. It was normal by now, always going out early in the morning, before the sun or his parents had risen, and back when the moon was high in the sky.
He really couldn't understand why Ayana stook around with him. Their meeting was very, offsetting in the least to say. She had witnessed him beating a rival who owed him some money, otherwise, they wouldn't have ever met. She had ran over, and stopped his brutish attack on the sheep in wolf's clothing, and the twig ran off as she tried to cool his anger, even repaid the dude's debt.
