"Uuuh, he smirked at you" said Brooke while wiggling her eyebrows. "Ugh, don't even go there. 99% of teenage girls will dive in him just with a "Hey" but not me, he's not my type anyways" I replied shaking my head softly.

"Hazel lee Black has a type?"

"Oh, shut it Brooke! He's annoying and it'll be just a waste of time. Plus I'm with Kian" I replied with a small laugh.

"You still think you're making it with Kian?"

I gave her the "Too far" look and not one word came out of my mouth. Once she realized what she had done, she then broke the silence by changing topics. "Anyways let's get to the studying shall we. First up, algebra!" Brooke said while grabbing her binder full of folders.

Poor thing, it's too full that not even a sheet of paper could be able to fit in there. As always, she lost her balance and a couple of folders slipped out, landing all over my legs greeeat.

"Ooops, my bad"

My face went paler than a paper once an exact version of the black leather folder that detective Reilly had, laid right in front of me. I took a silent deep breath and asked, "Brooke where did you get that folder from?"

While trying her best to gather all of the folders at once she responded, "Which one?" "The leather one" I responded quickly and pointed at it.

"Ooh, that one. I was just about to tell you about it, y'know. It was on the front door, this morning. The thing is that I didn't order it and it doesn't have an address from where it came from neither. I was thinking that it was probably from that hot nerd down the street, the one that always stares over here. You remember him, right?"

"Brooke, where did the folder come in?"

"Why are you so interested, Haz? It was probably just a mistake anyways; I mean it's just a fol-."

I felt my body temperature heating up as I interrupted her, "Where the hell did the damn folder come in Brooke?!" "In a box it's in the closet, sheesh" she said and pulled her hands up in defense. I didn't think twice as I got up from the bed and sprinted down to her closet.

I pulled open the double sliding doors and once I did, I regretted it for sure. The rotten smell hit me like a punch to the face. Brooke gasped and brought her hand up to cover her mouth, "Omg Haz what the hell is that? Please tell me it's not what I think it is."

Brooke's closet welcomed us with a full-size, white project board that had black cutout letters spelling, "See how easy it is to get into your personal life. It's a matter of seconds love" and for the cherry on top, the board was dripping red blood from the top to the bottom.

...

"Brooke can you stop shaking and just give me the damn bag already!"

"How the hell do you think I'm supposed to act? Someone we don't know broke into my house. My closet is full of dead rats, blood and I can't even look at it anymore."

"It's fake Brooke don't worry, the liquid wasn't taken from an actual person or animal" I replied while trying to avoid the smell.

"Hazel, do you know who this person is? I mean, you were so interested in finding where that folder came from and you looked pretty disappointed when you found this" said Brooke with a shaky voice.

"Look Brooke, I don't want to involve anyone in this. You have no idea what I've been through these past days and I don't want to imagine you in it. If this person wants something, he or she will get it no matter what or who it's on their way."

"Who are you talking about here Haz? Don't you think I'm pretty much involved already? This person entered my house just to leave one stupid message for you. Why leave it at my house and not yours or anyone else's. He or she wants me involved and I'm in no matter what you say."

"Alright fine Brooke, whatever you say. But once you're in, you can't just get out" I explained. "Okay, now tell me one more thing. What the hell have you gotten yourself into and how?

"It's kind of a long story."

"Well I'm damn sure I have some time for it" said Brooke.

"Okay, but first get the rats out of here and I'll do the rest" I replied.

...

I told Brooke everything. I started from the disappearance to the notes, then the cabin, Detective Reilly and here. She looked at me the whole time barely blinking with red puffy eyes.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier, Haz?"

"Brooke, this person is dangerous and he/she doesn't want anyone knowing about anything. The only reason I told you was because you were literally invited in this. If you get hurt in any way possible, it would be my fault and the blood would be in my hands.

"Haz, I'm not that 6 year old you met years ago. I might not seem like I can't handle this but I can. We can, actually. We'll find Kian and destroy that asshole for sure. We'll do it together."

"If you say so, let's do it then."

"Where do we start, my lady?" asked Brooke.

"The cabin in the woods is a complete no for now. So bring your bathing suit little Brooke cause we're going to saltwater swimming lake!"
