"What if she falls back into old habits?" He thought as he shivered in his icy sheets. Liliana-Violet was only in the next room but she had been sort of....distant lately. He was scared. Scared that his Lili might drift back into her "demon phase" which she had just recently recovered from.

Ezra lay still, quaking in his bed. Just the thought of Lili struggling like that again made his heart wrench and his skin crawl. Of course, he would never let that happen but the night-terrors still plagued his previously empty and spacious mind. They had become so overwhelming that he often became paralyzed with terror and anxiety to the point where he woke up in shiver-fits and cold sweats. Almost immediately after these spontaneous sleep attacks he would stumble out of his bed onto the thick, ivory woollen carpet and creep silently into Lili's room. It had become a sort of ritual now; once he was awake his mind would be in a state of anxiety -- his only reassurance was knowing that his magnificent, pure angel was safe and stable.

It had been like this for a while now. Pretty much the same every day since the big, almost-fatal incident at school. He had found Liliana on the floor in the disabled bathroom during one of his free periods. He heard the sound of her crying and wretching until all went silent. That was the decisive moment. Ezra was fearful and smashed a gaping hole through the door (which had resulted in a fistful of broken knuckles) he managed to get into the toilets and what he saw made him let out an agonising wail before he fell to his knees with a sharp bang on the stone cold floor.

There Liliana lay, limp and lifeless. Tears rolling down her cheeks and blood rolling down her wrist. The tears, he could ignore but the moment he set eyes on her deeply severed wrist, now crimson covering the milky white skin, he broke down into floods of tears. He shook her vigorously and tried to wake her up. He had been unsuccessful but once he had managed to get her to hospital she was stabilised and left in an induced coma. He had done it; Ezra had saved her life- it was because of his quick thinking she was still here. While she was in the coma and everyone went about their daily life, Ezra sat by her side. Serious and solitary his beautiful brown eyes kept a close watch over her limp, stationary body. It was like his brain had shut down; time had stopped. Almost like he had spent those three days in auto-pilot. But there was no way on Earth he was even going to consider leaving her. He powered through the extensive, lonely nights, made himself immune to the rancid, wretched smell of concentrated saline and antiseptic. For those  three days, no one else matter, no one else was relevant. The only thing he thought about for tose three days was Liliana- Violet.
