The night had passed by the time Ezra had even began to consider sleeping. Now the sun was rising. It was dawn. The beautiful baby birds were chirping in their nests; chipper and cheerful. Lili was bound to be awake by now, she always was. She admired the beauty and serenity of the sunrise and sunset.

Every morning she would be perched comfortably on her faux fur pouffé, gazing dreamily out of the window, her head resting lightly over her folded arms. And every morning she was interrupted by a soft tap on the door; Ezra would greet her with a good morning hug and a steamy, creamy, frothy, toffee latte.

As always, Ezra knocked on the door and waited patiently for Liliana to beckon him into her room. Except that never happened. He knocked again, with more force this time, but still no reply. Confused ad alarmed, Ezra decided to just walk in without her permission-- he'd deal with her livid lectures and raging rants later. This could be way more important that a ridiculous rule.

Ezra pushed the creaky, wooden door open into the room and was met with an even greater shock. Liliana wasn't in her usual place. she wasn't by the window sill either. Even more shocking was the fact that Liliana hadn't even woken up yet.

Concerned once more, he set both piping hot mugs down on the lilac desk in the corner and shifted nervously towards her bed. "This isn't right" he whispered to himself as he got closer to her large queen size.

Amongst the immense pile of thick, warm duvets, balnkets amd teddies lay a sleepy, foetal Lili. This was extremely unusual and out of character for Lili because she was a total earlybird. She never overslept- she was literally a walking alarm clock. Ezra knew that she hated sleeping until late and recognised that his only option would be to disturb her sleep and drag her out of bed. She'd thank him later.

10 minutes later and Lili was still unconscious in her makeshift den. It appeared that shaking, tickling, poking, shouting and blasting trashy music had no effect on her whatsoever which left him with no choice but to ice bucket her.

"Jeez! What kind of crack is this bitch on?!"  He asked as he left her room to go and get the ice. He had never known Lili to sleep late, especially since today was her first day back at school since she had ended up in a coma. She had been so excited about going back to school, she had barely been able to contain the excitement the previous week and now she was refusing to wake up. She really picked her moments.

He walked into the kitchen to go fetch the ice out of the freezer and a bucket from by the sink. He knew that dropping ice on a girl at 7am was basically asking for  death wish but if he didnt then she would miss school ... And that wasn't acceptable in her mind either. He had to take one for the team and do what was best. And that would be to wake her up.

"God I'm so going to regret this," he thought as he staggered back up the oak staircase and into her room with a two-and-a-half  litre bucket of chilled water and ice cubes. He stalled a bit, hoping she might have had a delayed reaction to his earlier attempts but no such luck. He was going to have to freeze her out of her bed.

He clenched his eyes shut and just threw the contents of the bucket forward at Lili. Immediately he dropped the bucket and stood there for a moment, waiting for her reaction.
For a moment there was a deadly silence which was soon masked by horrified shrieks and hysteric screams that could only have come from Lili. Yep, she was now awake, cold, annoyed, wet, petrified and awake.

Ezra opened one eye, scared for his life and what he might see. Now sat up in bed was a furious Lili who looked like she had just been resurrected from hell to wreak havoc on Earth, well on Ezra. She was infuriated, blood rushed through her veins and adrenaline flowed through her body. She lunged at him and pulled the baseball bat from the side of her bed. She always kept it there incase of a break in.
