I flung the match, setting the place on fire and with the weapon I had on my belt, I swung around, killing one of the traitors. The fire raged behind me, growing higher and higher, we were all trapped in this place but I knew this was what I wanted. As one of the Soldiers lunged over at me, I swiftly dodged it but quickly noticed the symbol, it was a horse, the military police. I swung my sword again, hitting the soldier on the back, killing him, then as fast as lightning, I went for the other guys and before he was even ready to lift his weapon: he was dead.

I turned to look at the fire which now raged around me, I did it, I spelt the blood of humans but they were not innocent, they were traitors, they had killed my mate and child and tried to kill me. I let myself smile as I looked at the blood on my blade, but I noticed, my flames were dying, something had happened, something I missed. Suddenly Arwin appeared from the dying flames, his face filled with shock, he had seen be with blood on my blade and three bodies lying on the ground. As he got over the shock he managed to say “Wild Wind; Hope Storm, you are under arrest from killing these innocent humans.” Arwin then looked at one of their bodies and looked at me with even more shock “from killing three members of the Military Police.” He added. I did not try to run or struggle, I just accepted this, and I had nothing left, if this how it ends, it would end like this.

I was taken to the jails and was shoved in one of them, leaving me with just a torch. I watched as the flames flickered eventually it made me fall asleep. I dreamed of Soleil and Hope, the family together again as well as my parents who died in the fire years ago, they were all here, happily watching me and laughing.

I never wanted this dream to end but my eyes were forced to open and I was awake, one of the guards was at the bars and opened them to then drag me out to the court room. I was strapped to the post, I wanted to look around, I wanted to know who was watching but I didn’t dare, I just laid there looking at the floor. “So Hope Storm, I hear you have convicted three murders. Is that correct?”

I didn’t dare argue “yes, yes I did.” I heard the audience shocked at my answer, I looked up and noticed the judge looking a bit shocked that I even accepted it.

“Now, Hope, I would like to know, why did you do this? Arwin has told me so much about you, that you have been such a good captain and have killed so many titans, so why?”

I could tell from the voice he didn’t want me to be executed and that was when I realised, they might give me another chance. “I heard many times about killing traitors and not giving them any chances; well I did what the rule said, I killed the traitors. Those three so called Military Police killed my mate and child!” I looked around and noticed the amount of shocked and surprised faces, I even noticed some of the survey corps nodding, agreeing with what I said about the rule.

I looked back at the judge and he was thinking hard “What was your mate and child called?” he asked, I knew he was thinking about getting the bodies.

“They were called Soleil and Hope Jr, but if you are thinking of retaining the bodies; there is no point.”

“And why is this?” The judge asked, almost glaring at me.

“I burnt the bodies, I was going to do the same with the three Military Police and let the fire burn me alive but that didn’t work out as planned.” I noticed I was also glaring at the judge with fire in my eyes; fire something I accept, something I welcomed into my life, how it glows and it sets everything ablaze with a touch, the warmth surrounding me, welcoming me into its flames.

“Kill him!” I heard from someone from the Military Police “he killed three of our best recruitments! He should be killed nice and slowly.”

I heard the others agreeing with him that was when I have had enough. “You pathetic excuse of a recruitment, of a guardian you are just a load of cowards that don’t want to fight. You say you are good at fighting but all you do is sit around and do nothing for days well, until the day you die and that it not from Titans! You would probably shit your pants if you saw a tiny Titan and run away like the cowards you are! You call them your best recruitments? They didn’t even lay a scratch on me and I killed them, you call that the best?”

The judge slammed his hammer down to shut everyone up and I turned to look at him, I noticed he sighed and then looked at me with sorrow in his eyes “Wild Wind, I do not want to kill you, instead Arwin will degrade you and you will not be able to become Captain for a very long time. You will have to go on risky missions that would get a lot of you killed, you hear?”

I nodded, I knew this was the right thing to do and I accepted that. The guard unchained me and I rubbed my wrists where the chain had been. I sighed, wondering what I should do now, I walked out the door and into the fresh air, and it cooled my skin making me all warm inside. I couldn’t believe it, I thought I surely would have been executed but I was let off, sure I have to go on suicidal missions but I have always loved the danger side of being face to face with a titan and as I started walking to where the Survey Corps base was, I felt ready to fight, ready to kill titans and survive.
