By the time lunch came around, I came to conclusion that school was the most evil thing on the planet. Next to Seraphina. I barely understand anything. I mean, Issac Newton discovered gravity? Were land walkers really so stupid they didn't realize something was keeping everything on earth?

I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going, so I once again bumped into somebody. Good news, it wasn't Allison or Stiles. Bad news, this person smelled of werewolf. True Alpha too be exact. I looked up at the face of the person I had crashed into. Sure enough, it was the boy I heard learned names was Scott.

"Sorry—" Scott stopped talking when he saw my face.

Great. Just great. He recognizes me from yesterday, I thought

"It's fine," I told him, and started to walk away.

"Wait!" He called. I stopped and somehow resisted the urge too roll my eyes. "I saw you yesterday come out of the office. I'd never seen you before. Are you new?"

"Is it really that obvious?" I muttered.

"Um, kinda, yeah." He sheepishly told me.

"Um, I'm Katy," I said, trying to get this over with. I had already introduced myself in 5 different periods. "I just moved here."

"Scott McCall. Where from?" He asked. Great. Small talk. I just love small talk.

"Mrytle Beach," I said automatically, trying my best too keep my heartbeat steady.

However, the look on Scott's face told me he knew I had lied. "So why'd you'd move here?" He asked, most likely trying to get information out of me. However, that was the wrong thing to ask, all of a sudden I got really defensive.

"I don't see how that's any of your business. Do you?" I said angrily, then widened my eyes. "Crap. I'm sorry. Um, I guess you could say we had family issues."

"With your mom or dad?" Scott asked, then clamped hand over his mouth, realizing what he said. "I'm sorry! You don't have too answer if you don't want too."

"It's fine. I guess both. My dad and mom, they were really busy, and some stuff happened, first with my dad, then Mom, so I left." I technically wasn't lying. My parents were really busy merfolk, and Dad died first, from unknown causes, then Mom. I just left  out the parts about how much my parents loved me, and how I watched Mother die.

"But you said we—"

"My little brother, James. I took him with me. I couldn't leave him behind with that awful women." Scott would assume I was talking about my mother, but I was actually talking about Seraphina.

"Oh, I'm sorry for asking."

"You should probably go over and sit with your friends. They're most likely wondering where you are." I whispered, thinking about how messed up my life is. I walked away before Scott could say anything else. Thinking about my family just brought up the fact that James and I were now orphans.

I made my way over to a table nobody was sitting at. Next period was free period. I could just go home and swim in the Moon Pool. Nobody would notice. No. Stiles would notice. Plus, by then he would also be suspicious about me since Scott will probably tell him I lied. Looking around the room, I saw where Scott, Stiles, and Allison were sitting. The Banshee from yesterday was there as well, along with two more girls, and two more boys. I didn't bother tuning into their conversation. I'd rather not know what they had too say about me.

For lunch, I only bought a apple and a roll. I really wasn't that hungry. I tried to avoid getting water, even though I was parched. I left the water bottle I got at Target in my car. I would just have too wait. The apple and roll were gone pretty quickly, and that left me alone with my thoughts. That's never a good thing. I started to stare off into space, thinking of how Mom and Dad died, when BAM! people were all of sudden sitting at the table.
