I was at the edges of Atlantis, and looked around and saw two younger mermaids. I then realized I was one of those mermaids, and I waswith my best friend Lily. We often swam here to get my mind off my duties. Seaweed surrounded us, along with coral. We were only seven at the time, but we were clever enough to figure out how too sneak away from the guards. Mostly my fathers closest friend, Benjamin.
' Hey, Lily! Come on!" My younger self called out to the other mermaid.
'I'm coming! Hold your seahorses." Lily giggled.
'I was thinking today we could go up to land.' Younger me told Lily.
'I don't know. We aren't supposed to go up there without an adult.' She said uncertainly.
'Come on! Please!' Y/m (younger me) begged her.
'Fine! But only because you're my best friend.' Lily agreed.
I watched helplessly as they started to swim away from Atlantis and toward land. I remembered this day perfectly. Though, I was wish I could forget all about it. It was the first time I had run into a werewolf pack. The two friends reached the surface and swam over to some rocks that would hide the changing of a tail to legs.
They ran into the woods that lay near by, and failed to catch the scent of dog. I, however, couldn't of missed that awful scent for the life of me. We stopped at a large tree stump, and started to play with the twigs and leafs that surrounded us. It was the sound of a branch snapping that caught Y/m and Lily's attention .
'Did you hear that?' Lily asked.
'Yeah, stay here. I'll go check it out.' Y/m told Lily.
'No! Don't leave her alone!' I cried out, desperate, even though I knew neither could hear me.
'Okay, but be quick.' Lily told Y/m.
I watched as I walked away from my best friend, leaving defenseless, since she had not learned to use her powers yet. I decided not to follow Y/m, I already knew what happened. Instead, I stayed with Lily so I could spend just a few more minutes with her.
All of a sudden, a werewolf dropped down from a tree and grabbed Lily by her neck. Lily screamed. Oh, that scream. I remember the panicked feeling I had felt when I first heard that scream. It was even worse now, seeing how frightened she was as the werewolf waited for me to arrive.
'Please, don't hurt her,' Lily begged. I realized she was talking about me. I had never seen her be so protective over me while she was alive.
'Don't worry. We have no intention of starting a war between the merfolk.' The werewolf snarled. 'We are simply giving them a example of what happens when one of their kind comes into our territory.'
'No,' I whispered. Just then, Y/m ran into the clearing.
'Lily!' She screamed.
I jolted up, my face soaked with tears. I was glad tears didn't have the same affect as normal water did. I wiped the tears off my face, and out of my eyes, and got out of bed. I heard noise downstairs and assumed James had woken himself up. Wait. What time is it? I looked at my phone. 7:40! Crap. James school starts in twenty minutes.
I rushed around my room, and found some dark ripped jeans in my closet, along with a white t-shirt. I quickly put on makeup, and left my hair to be it's wavy self.
Running downstairs, I grabbed my book bag.
"Finally! You're awake." James joked.
"Shut up! Get in the freaking Jeep or I will murder you." I snapped.
