[A/N: I made up the town names so I hope they don't actually mean something, oops.]

Alice

Running and running, it felt like I had been running forever. I had no car, skateboard, phone or even a plan. All I had in my pocket was a pack of cigarettes and twenty bucks. I didn't have a lighter though. Of course I would leave in in my bag which I idiotically left at the rink.

A lot was going through my mind as I ran. I don't think I was even paying attention to where I was going because I was thinking too much. I didn't even realize it was raining. Before I knew it, I had arrived in the next town.

It was much like my town I lived in, small, low population, quiet and surrounded by woods. I don't think I would've known I was in another town if I didn't see the lit up sign that read: WELCOME TO TUTSINE

It was bigger than my town, Naneville, that's for sure. Naneville was so small, people sometimes calls it the outskirts of Tutsine. This town actually had a few stores and schools and wasn't inhabited by mostly old people. A few bands have actually preformed here, so it's not too small.

When I saw the sign I stopped running to catch my breath. I think I ran pretty far, maybe about seven miles. A weird talent or skill, if you want, I have is running. I've never mentioned it because it's not useful nowadays and I couldn't ever put it on my resume. In school I was always one of the first ones to finish a race, not because I was fast, but because I have a lot of stamina. I could go a very long ways without stopping while running at fast pace. In elementary school, I ran all the time, I was on the track team and won many races. But when I got into middle school, I didn't run as much because I was self conscious about it. In highschool, I stopped completely. Not going to lie, it felt nice to run again.

Continuously walking, I looked around, taking in everything. Not many people were walking the streets but more than Nanesville. I kept moving until I came across a gas station called 'The Metro Station.'

"Nice name."

I walked in and it smelt like old hotdogs. Like the ones in the little glass box thing and they rotate for like weeks because no one wants to buy the digsusting things. I browsed the place before picking up a Dr.Pipper and a pack of lighters. I went over to the register and paid. It was four bucks all together, not that bad.

Walking outside, I saw three tall boys get out of a car that drove off once they got out. I stood under the awning, staying out of the rain and lit my cigarette. The three boys were quite peculiar. One wore a whole suit and had hair like he was in The Beatles. Another wore a nirvana tank and stripped pants with Vans. He had some jewelry on but not as much as the other one. The last one, he seemed more odd than the rest, he just wore a red blazer thing, leather pants and boots with a bunch of jewelry. His hat stood out the most, it was like a gypsy pirate hat.

I don't know what it was about them, but they drew me in. I'm not sure if it was their style or how familiar I thought they were or whatever, I just wanted to know what they were about.

The one on the suit and the emo one walked into the station, leaving the pirate outside with me. He pulled out a cigarette and kept feeling for his pockets for what I assumed was a lighter. He seemed to have no luck. So, I took out the red lighter from the pack of assorted colours and handed it to him.

He seemed quite shocked at first but soon took it and nodded. "Thank you, love."

I watched him light his cigarette as I took a deep inhale of mine. The pirate tried handing me the lighter back but I shook my head. "You keep it, I have plenty more."

He smirked and nodded to me and put the lighter in his back pocket. "What's a lovely girl like yourself doing this far away from home?"

I immediately turned my direction of
vision from my boots to the guy. "How do you know I'm far from home?"

Curiosity drowned me as I waited for him to take a drag of the white thin stick before replying. "You're in a band, Addicted To Red, yeah? Well, I saw you play the other weekend at the festival. You're quite good."

"Thank you, but that doesn't answer my question." I said, trying my hardest to not sound rude.

He smirked again. "My grandmother used to live in your town before she passed. I would have to go to the gas station every now and then to buy her crossword books and pens. I saw you almost every time I went in there. I even saw you the day you got fired."

I cringed at the memory. That was an awful day. "Yeah, sorry you had to see that."

"It's quite alright, darling. Those other two in there are my brothers so we fight all the time." He said with a smile and pointed inside. I nodded and looked back at my boots. "Y'know, before that day you got fired, I thought you couldn't talk. You never said hello or hi and I wondered why every time. But later I realized you could talk and even more, yell." He said with a smile and I cringed again. "After watching you play too, I know you have a lot of spunk, the most I have ever seen. You're more angry at drumming than me!"

We both smiled and even laughed a bit. "I guess you have a thing for finding me on bad days. That day I got fired was bad, the festival was worse and today was atrocious. Believe it or not, I got fired again." I sighed and took another hit.

Mr. Pirate looked at me with sympathy. "Oh, I'm so sorry, love. Is that one of the reasons why you're so far from home?"

I didn't really want to tell him why but I had nothing to lose and last time I opened up, it didn't go that bad, so why the fuck not? Besides, he drew me in like a moth to a light. I couldn't help myself.

I sighed. "Yeah, kind of. My best friend, the vocalist of our band, we got into a fight today for one of the first times. I went to my nearby park and stayed there until the drummer of Waterparks found me in the rain then took me to work. His ex-girlfriend thinks he left her for me so she and her posse broke my skateboard and burned my notebook filled with all of my songs and thoughts. So, I beat her up. Then my boss came in, the girl threatened to sue the rink if the boss didn't fire me, so he did. Then I ran all the way here in the rain." I explained quite quickly. I didn't want to think about it anymore than I had to.

The guy took a minute before replying. "I guess you've had a rough day, huh? Don't you want to call one of your friends?"

I shook my head. "I left all of my stuff at the skating rink, including my phone. But honestly, I don't want to talk to any of them I don't have many but still. It's not like I dont like them. I love them them, it's just that I want to getaway for a little bit, y'know? Like disappear."

"Oh darling, I know exactly what you mean."
