Rusty was at the Snuggly Duckling, even though it was his day off. He didn't have anything else to do anyway, though he wasn't in uniform.

He gazed the room while taking a sip of his non-alchoholic drink. He couldn't handle alchohole very well.
Two young girls walked in, way to young to be at a place alone like this Rusty thought.

They stood in the doorway and talked a bit, then they came over tonRustys table.

"Hello. May we sit here?"
A girl with brown hair asked. She wore a red bow and a matching hooded cape. The other girl hid a bit behind her.
Rusty got up and made a sweeping gesture over the table while taking out one of the chairs.
He smiled.
"It would be my pleasure."
The girls giggled a bit. Rusty's heart skipped a jump. He waved at the bartender to get the girls each a drink.
"My treat ."

They talked for a while. Rusty suggested a game where they each asked a question.

It was called "Never have I ever..."
And somehow Rusty had to admit that he had never kissed a girl. He blushed.

And so did the girl with black hair, she had some kind of protective goggles on her head, so he decided to call her "Goggles" though her name was Alice.
That was one of his quirks, he always made nicknames for people, it was easier to remember.
He thought about it and decided to call the other one for Red, simple as that.

Just as they had a great time some thugs came up behind them. A man in a long black coat and a scar on his chin laughed.
"Now we got ya' little witch!
Sinny, or Red as Rusty called her gasped and jumped up from her seat.
Rusty grabbed his sword tightly and went between Red and what he assumed was the leader.
"Leave her be and I let you off with a warning."
Alices whimpered from her place. One of the thugs held her tight.
"I think you better let me take the witch, you are very much outnumbered."

Rustys mind went blank, it was true, he froze. If he made a move they might hurt "Goggles" but he couldn't hand them Red either.

Suddenly he heard Alice shouting;
"Jaq! The vials! Now!"

A big cloud of green smoke filled the bar.
"Sinny! Run!" Alice screamed while coughing.
And Sinny ran. She tan faster then ever before. Her heart felt like it was going to burst. She didn't stop until she was hone in Old Corona. Hiding in her room.

Rusty sweeped up Goggles in his arms and ran out the bar, he kept running with her in his arms for a while.
Alices eyes widened as she looked at him. She blushed blue on her cheeks from being so close to him.
"Um.. you can put me down now."
She said low when he finally stopped for catching his breath.
"You okay?"
"Yes. Thank you... you shouldn't have..." she didn't finish. She looked down at the ground.

Rusty scratched his neck nervously.
"Well, we should check on your friend, make sure she's alright..."
Alice showed him the way to Sinny's home. She was more shaken but more or less okay.

Rusty felt awful , he didn't deserve to be a Castle Guard, he was such a phony he thought.

As he watched Goggles comforting Red he felt his knees buckling and he sank down on the floor, the side effect of the adrenaline-rush fading out.
"Rusty! Are you okay?" Sinny asked startled.
"Yes, I just need a moment..."
Alice smiles. She went over to him and kisses him faintly on his cheek.
"Our hero." She giggled.
Rusty blushed, he was probably deep-red.
"Nah, I'm not so brave."
"What?! Of course you are!" Sinny exclaimed.

The girls told him over and over again that they thought he had been very brave.
Rusty let them think that, they couldn't know his secret.

He assured the girls that they we're going to capture the thugs that had attacked them and by they ,he had meant the Guards of Corona, but Goggles had som delusion that she would be able to take them down herself.

Sure she wasn't normal, he had noticed that much, she got some weird blueish color on her cheeks and her eyes. Wow! Her ehes were deep purple, they glimmered in the light.
She was different from any human he had seen. But what worried him was that she had constantly been talking about how she had a purpose and when that was done she wouldn't be here any longer. And that it didn't matter if she would get hurt.
Rusty had yelled at her.

"How could she even think about throwing away her life like that?! "

He had tried to convince her that all life was precious, that she mattered too, if she would've served her purpose, fine, then find a new one, don't say you'll disappear!

Maybe he had been too harsh on her, he didn't even know her.

Strange girl, strange looking girl, but he couldn't stop thinking about her.

Rusty rolled around in his bed, he couldn't sleep.
Goggles had left an impression on him. But was he wrong? Should he apologise? He didn't think that he was wrong.

"Aaaargh!!!" He screamed out in fustration.
He got a pillow thrown at his face as an answer. He had disturbed his mate, Rowan.

Rusty went up, no sleep tonight. He ventured down the hallway in the guard quarters, eventually he ended up outside. The moon was full, shining down on him.

He longed home. Home to Redfalls. He didn't belong in the Guards, he didn't belong in Corona City.

Suddenly he felt extremely lonely.
