Funny how the simplest jobs turn into the ones that cause you the most grief.

"Simon, are you in here?" I squint, looking through the sunlight surrounding the warehouse door. "Simon, I need..." I stumble, clutching my gut. The long, oozing gash that I had recieved the previous evening stung a little as I tried to steady myself. My head was starting to swim.

As I fell unconscious, I began to do what can only be described as a dream. Except...Vampires don't dream.

I awoke in a dark alley, staring into the face of an unremarkable young girl. She seemed to be in her twenties, and she was as plain as the night is dark. But something in her eyes screamed "Danger!" She stared at me, grey eyes full of fury, and held the stake over my chest.

The pale girl stood against the darkness, a sharp contrast to the sky behind her. She stared at me from eyes sunken in with years of pain and whispered in a husky voice, "Don't you remember me? "Simon?" My voice sounds hoarse and broken, even to my own ears.

"Kaly, just relax. We've got you." Simon's voice is calm, collected. It soothes me. I rest my head into his strong arms, feeling the rhythm of his gait as he walks me through the warehouse. There is chatter all around us, a dozen voices trying to get information at once. But those mean nothing. Just noise.

Suddenly, a shriek breaks out. "KALY!!" I open my eyes just enough to see the tall red rocket dash to my side. Tia grabs my hand, panic stricken. "What happened!? Are you alright!? Can someone bring me some blood!?"

I close my eyes again, just too tired to answer any questions. I let Simon carry me to the infirmary, and lay me down on the most uncomfortable cot in the world. Sighing, I rolled over and let Tia go to work. She first wrapped my stomach, covering the bloody wound that was still throbbing with pain. Then she prepared the IV, and stuck it into my outstretched arm. As she began the blood transfusion, I fell into a dreamless sleep.....
