Chapter 1;

                “Sorry,” I said right after I bumped into an unfamiliar looking girl. I was always pretty clumsy; my friends often teased me about it. The girl just smiled and hurried off to her next class. I was going to try and catch up to her because I’ve never seen her around, but the second bell just rang and I don’t want to be late to another class with the horrible, Mr. Paulus. I walked into class and my friends all greeted me as I sat down. My friends and I are part of the “popular” crowd. I actually think popularity is a funny thing, people think it means that your better than everyone else, but really the popular people are the same as everyone else. The popular kids just have a different outlook and social life than the rest. I know my friends think it’s considered bad to talk to other people out of our popular group, but I actually like talking to non-popular kids.

                “You have no homework tonight, but I do expect you to study over the weekend,” Mr. Paulus continues talking about what we should study and our next test, but to be honest I can’t even think about what he’s saying. I know I should pay attention to him because I suck at math, but I can’t stop thinking about that unfamiliar girl I bumped into. I’m definitely going to find out who she is as soon as I get out of this class.

                I don’t know why I can’t stop thinking about her. I’ve bumped into many people before, but this was different. I don’t even know the girl, but her piercing blue eyes and the way she smiled at me showing every one of her perfect white teeth makes me want to know her.  She had long brown hair and a very attractive body from what I could see.

                “Hey Ethan, are you alright?” Jeremy taps me on the shoulder.

                “Yeah, sorry, I was just thinking about something, I’ll tell you about it after class though,” I whisper to him so Mr. Paulus doesn’t yell at us for talking. Jeremy has been my best friend since birth. I practically live at his house since my parents are always gone with work and everything. Our parents were all friends in college and they moved right near each other to start families. Jeremy was born a month before me. We do practically everything together. We never even fight, which is the best part, he’s like a brother to me. Today is Friday which means I’m going to his place for a party we planned last minute, like always.  The good thing about both of us having parents that are barley ever home is the parties. They are the best, and they happen pretty often since his parents and my parents travel like crazy. I think I’ll invite that girl I bumped into, if I can find her.

                I get up right when the bell rings and go to lunch. As Jeremy and I walk into the cafeteria, I hear a voice call my name, “Ethan!” I turn around and see Becky waving at me and Jeremy to stop and wait for her. She runs up to me and hugs me, but of course I see it coming. That’s typical Becky, happy, bubbly, and hugging. She’s seriously way too happy all the time. I smile at her, trying to be equally happy I say, “Hi Becky, how’s your day going?” She laughs and tells me about her day, while Jeremy sneaks away to find the other guys. Damn, Jeremy always leaves me with Becky. It’s hard not to laugh while near Becky because for starters, she is a dumb blonde and cannot understand anything. I don’t say that in a mean way, it’s just a fact. If she wasn’t the head cheerleader I doubt she would have so many friends. I guess the fact that she’s pretty helps, but still.

                “Wow, you and Jeremy are like matching today. That’s so funny Ethan!” Tiffany laughs as she says it. “I seriously didn’t even notice that, but hey I guess we’re just that fresh,” I wink at her and she pushes me lightly and giggles. I guess I do look like Jeremy even when we don’t match. We both have dark brown hair and the same shape mouth, but he has brown eyes and a different nose than me. It’s not a bad thing though. I have hazel eyes, which the ladies love. Just kidding, I’m not that cocky. I pretend to be cocky sometimes though because most of the girls in my school fall for it. That being said, I’m pretty much the typical player.  I’m not one for a relationship, but I don’t like clingy and desperate girls either. Tiffany isn’t a clingy or desperate girl, but she’s not my type. I’ve hooked up with her before, but it’s nothing more than that. She is pretty hot with her black curly hair, nice body, brown eyes, and light tan skin, but she can get annoying with the way she tries too hard. I guess that’s the case with most cheerleaders though, like Becky.
